Car listed for sale here:

www.classicshowcase.com/CUVehicleZoom.asp

This 150S was built in September of 1958 and shipped to the United States, where it was purchased by Mr. S.E.Elizondo of Colorado. Not much was known about the car's prior ownership. This is a highly desirable and rare factory 150S Roadster.

Details

Show / Driver Level

Although the standard XK-150 did not fall short when it came to traditional Jaguar high performance, the expansion of the range with the 150S in coupe, convertible and roadster form gave Jaguar another arrow in their quiver versus the competition, especially in the U.S. market that was so important to their sales.

This vehicle was brought to a professional restoration shop which specialized in English cars. It was given a full nuts and bolt restoration, keeping all replaced parts correct to specification. It initially started its life with the standard 4-speed gearbox. However, during the restoration, the more desirable Borg Warner T5 overdrive unit was fitted for better high-speed performance and less engine wear. This car participated in three Copper State 1000 rallies, and was featured as the cover car on the Copper State 1000 brochure. This vehicle comes with a copy of its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, a copy of the Copper State brochure, as well as a black convertible cover and the originally fitted 4-speed transmission.

One of 888 3.4-Litre Roadsters Built
Performance Enhancing Five-Speed Transmission Upgrade
Presented in Factory-Delivered Color Combination
Offered with Tool Kit and Copy of JDHT Certificate
Completed in its original color combination of Carmen Red over black leather with a black canvas top, this lovely XK150 S Roadster benefits from a well-kept older restoration. Originally equipped with Jaguar's four-speed manual gearbox and optional overdrive, the Roadster has been refitted with a synchromesh, five-speed gearbox, giving it a more spirited feel on the road.

A copy of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate indicates that this 150 S Roadster was originally sold in Colorado and also confirms that it retains its original engine. As part of a large museum collection for the past several years, the Jaguar has received expert scheduled attention and maintenance and the engine has been recently treated to a comprehensive service. Accordingly, the car presents well - the engine compartment appears tidy and properly outfitted, as does the undercarriage. One can see that the body panels have been well prepared while the chrome is also in fine condition, with the hood trim featuring the optional leaping Jaguar mascot. On a recent test drive, this XK150 S was reported to have performed beautifully, delivering good power and refined road manners.

Showing just 46,000 miles, this Roadster - possibly the most civilized of any in the XK line - would make an ideal car for use on club rallies and extended trips, and is certainly equipped to be used as an everyday driver.

Lot 166 - 1959 Jaguar XK150 S Roadster
Estimate: £90,000 - £120,000
Registration Number: 410 UYH
Chassis Number: T831419DN

This lovely left hand drive matching number example was driven regularly in California by the present vendor, before he imported it back to the UK recently. The car is presented in traditional British sports car red with black leather interior - both of which are in lovely condition.

There is also a black hood which the vendor reports as being in good condition also. The XK150 S Roadster is the most desirable and sought after, with its clean sweeping lines and swift performance, it will still provide exciting driving on any country road and good touring ability also. This is a true British classic and a great example of the iconic marque which still turns heads today as it did back in the 1950s.

The Jaguar XK150 S Roadster offered here at Hofmanns was first registered in January 1959 "Chassis no: T 831419 DN". Supplied to its first owner Mr. S E Elizondo by Jaguar Cars, New York. This beautiful example is finished in the traditional combination of Carman Red with full Black leather interior, the car underwent a full restoration in California before the car was sold to its penultimate owner in 2012 who owned and used the car in America before shipping it back to the United Kingdom. This must be one of the best examples currently on the market with recent invoices from Twyford Moors XK Specialist totaling £16,000. Work included: Alternator conversion, New radiator and Kenlowe fan fitted, Poly bush front suspension upgrade, Steering rack overhaul, Brake overhaul, Supply and fit radial tyres, Windscreen wiper motor overhaul, Carburettor rebuild, Supply new tonneau cover and Full service.
