this car is not supposed to have a heater box

A second car making a better claim to Chassis No. 670776 sold on eBay in March 2017 for $34,800. The eBay car shows a clear photo of what appears to be the original data plate showing the following numbers:

Chassis No. 670776
Body No. F2002
Engine No. W2130-8
Gearbox No. JH4331

www.ebay.com/itm/1951-Jaguar-XK-/182484895317

The eBay car lacks the heater box as would be expected of such an early XK120, the engine has the correct studless cam covers, and all numbers from the data plate are in the expected sequences.

The XK120 entered on XKDATA in 2013, claiming the same chassis number, appears to be a later car than what would be expected for this chassis number. The presence of a heater box in the engine compartment is the most obvious clue. Additionally, there are no photos of the original data plate to back up the claim that the 2013 entry is actually Chassis No. 670776.

Dear 'Anonymous', nice to see someone else is observant. The car offered for sale on 'Ebay', requiring restoration - having been stored since the 1960's, appears to be the original 670776, with all correct numbers and the Title Document quoting No. W2130-8 (the engine number), as indeed many U.S. States have done in the past. However, you will see a car claiming to be 670776 offered for sale as 'Broadsport' No 19 at £110,000 in 2013. Please see the 'comments' under 660369 for a scenario similar to the above. Well fancy that, the same name keeps 'cropping up' - Hmmm!!

Perhaps the new owner of the restoration project would like to confirm his purchase - unless of course it is being shipped to a 'well known' garage in the U.K.!

There also seems to be a 'cross-over' somewhere with S675748, as two 'Broadsport' cars apparently appear to have had the same registration number JKV 341 at some time - the plot thickens! Heritage and 'Paul S' also seem to have previously picked this up. It's starting to look as though there are now more fake XK's than A.C Cobras.

I just purchased 670776 on ebay and it is a matching numbers car. I have just received a Heritage Certificate for the car and they have confirmed all of the numbers. I live in Panama City Beach, FL and will do a frame-off restoration of the car. As soon as I join the group, I will post current pictures of the car.
