Ebay item #4641673751 (May 2006)
Seller ad reads:
Vehicle Description
1957 XK 150 Fixed Head Coupe. Spectacular ‘Barn Find’ offered for Restoration.
History:
This car was built on 23 September 1957 and delivered to its’ first owner in Monterey Park, California on 20 November 1957. (See copy of Heritage Certificate). No other information, including XK Data is presently available.

Body, Trim and Accessories:
The body is sound and straight, with seamless fits for both doors, bonnet and boot. There is rust next to the driver’s door at the sill level and a small hole on the front right fender. Particular attention will need to be paid to the floor area of the car.
Eighty percent of the chrome is in good condition, fifteen percent of the chrome and brightware may need repair or re-chroming, in particular the front right over-rider and five percent is missing, in particular the center vane on the bonnet including the leaper, which is an optional item.
Glass: a brand new Triplex front windscreen is included as well as a ‘like new’ rear window and both Triplex side windows. All quarter lights are original and in good condition. The original windshield washer bottle is present
Lights: new ‘J’ headlights and bulbs are included as well as well as two new Lucas driving lights. All other lights and lenses are present
There are four brand new Jaguar ‘knock offs’ present as well as the original ones on the car
Wire wheels: Aside from the four wire wheels and the spare (no tire), there are 6 additional fifty-four spoke, sixteen inch wire wheels which can be powdered coated, chromed or otherwise painted to match body color
Rear view mirrors: Two period ‘Bullet’ style rear view mirrors are included

Interior:
A complete interior kit will be required and several options can be recommended
All instruments have been professionally refurbished by Nisonger (note: the clock has been modified to negative ground in anticipation of an updated electrical system).
The tachometer shows a mileage of just over 30,000 miles but this cannot be certified by me or the engine restorer
A new horn assembly for the steering wheel has been included as well as the two hi-lo horns

Engine Bay:
The 3.4 liter engine is not installed, hence the front suspension is riding high. The engine has been rebuilt by a well known Seattle Restorer; however while it is the correct engine for this car it is NOT the original engine. There is an overdrive switch. Both manifolds are present and also the exhaust system
There is no transmission; however I have sourced a replacement transmission for this car and will supply details if required
The steering assembly and suspension are in working condition, as well as the radiator with a brand new Scott’s radiator fan, still in original packaging

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
