As with its predecessors, the XK 150 was offered as a closed Fixed Head Coupé, a roadster, and a Drophead Coupé. The car presented here, chassis number 838065DN, is an example of that last body style, and one of just 104 XK 150 S 3.4 DHCs produced. Offering the open-air experience of the roadster but with a more isolated cabin, it provides the best of all possible worlds—all the more so because it has been beautifully restored and tastefully upgraded.

Built 19 January 1959, this left-hand drive car was delivered new to its first owner in California. It later joined an impressive private collection in Holland, where it remained for some years before being subject to a restoration said to have cost in excess of €300,000. The final stages of the restorative work were carried out by Guy Broad of Coventry; documentation accompanying the sale attests to the work performed by this renowned marque expert.

The car strikingly finished in blue with a red leather interior and black hood, with a louvered bonnet and bucket seats offering distinctive departures from the norm. During the car’s comprehensive overhaul, a Vicarage power steering system was installed; a sporty Nardi steering wheel completes the cockpit (though the original wheel accompanies the car).

Now complete, the end result is sensitive to the chassis’ numbers-matching originality, yet with subtle upgrades throughout. Subtle upgrades improve daily drivability and long-distance capability, making this rare XK 150 S 3.4 DHC particularly well-rounded and exceptionally desirable. The car is offered with photographs of its thorough restoration and documentation of work performed by Guy Broad, as a well as a JDHT certificate.

Car now on ebay:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265150689859

Classified ad price: £169,950 seller mathercollectablemotorcars, now said to be in Blockley, United Kingdom.

Seller's description:

1959 Jaguar XK150 S 3.4 Drop Head Coupe

A truly stunning example that has just come to the end of a comprehensive restoration.

Priced at £2,093 in 1959, the XK150 ”S” was equipped with triple SU carburettors, a revised cylinder head, and a manual 4-speed overdrive transmission. These last of their type, top spec cars boasted 250bhp and a top speed of over 130 mph, astonishing for it’s time.

This example was delivered new to it’s first owner in California, then later formed part of an impressive private collection in Holland, where it remained for some years before being subject to a stunningly well executed restoration costing well in excess of today’s asking price. The final stages of the restorative work were carried out by renowned marque expert Guy Broad of Coventry.

Finished in blue with red hide and black hood, this example is one of only 67 of its kind and is simply flawless.

Equipped with its original engine and gearbox this is certainly one for the connoisseur and is surely one of the finest XK150’s available today.

A louvered bonnet and bucket seats are a very welcome deviation from standard, as is a subtle power steering system courtesy of Vicarage.

When the previous owner began the restoration of this glorious motorcar, the emphasis was on originality due to the incredible rarity of this particular model, but he also had his sights set on long distance tours and rallies. What has been created could not be more fit for purpose.

Ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian, viewing of this very special car is highly recommended.

Car now offered at:

classicmotorhub.com/showroom/1959-jaguar-xk-150-3-4-s-drophead-coupe/

Seller's description:

1959 Jaguar XK 150 3.4 S Drophead Coupé

One of only 68 left-hand-drive examples built

Recent full restoration and beautifully presented

Subtle upgrades including power steering

Almost 1200 examples of the Jaguar XK 150 3.4 S left the factory, but this particular car is something of a rarity in that it’s one of only 68 left-hand-drive Drophead Coupés that were built. According to the Heritage Certificate, it was completed at Browns Lane on 19 January 1959 and finished in Cream with red interior and a black soft-top.

Chassis number 838065 was fitted with a manual-overdrive gearbox, engine number VS1839-9 and body number P7334. It was dispatched to Jaguar Cars in New York on 16 February, but was thought to have made its way across the US to a first owner who lived in California.

The XK 150 S later formed part of a private collection in The Netherlands and was recently treated to a full ‘no expense spared’ restoration. The project was finished off by renowned marque specialist Guy Broad, based near the old Jaguar factory on the northern outskirts of Coventry.

The work that was carried out included subtle upgrades such as a Vicarage power-steering system, bucket seats, electroni
