This 1957 Jaguar XK140 Roadster has been in the owner’s family since 1957 and is finished in white over black leather. The car is powered by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, wind wings, chrome bumpers and trim, an AM radio, and 16″ knock-off wire wheels. This XK140 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a black convertible top, a tonneau cover, owner’s manual, side curtains, and a clean Oregon title in the name of the owner’s trust.

The car is finished in white and features a black soft top, chrome bumpers and trim, driving lights, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes evidence of repainting on the left-front fender, paint imperfections and tears in the convertible top are visible.

Painted 16″ wire wheels wear knock-off spinners and are mounted with 215/70 American Radials Prospector SUV tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The seller notes the brake master and slave cylinders are brass sleeved, and the master cylinder requires a rebuild. The front suspension bushings also need to be replaced.

The cabin is upholstered in black and features leather seats and trim. Equipment includes wind wings, an AM radio, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror. Cracks in the seats and center console are depicted above and below.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a central instrument panel housing a reverse swept tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The analog clock does not work, and the five-digit odometer shows 56k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with a DOHC C-Type cylinder head and dual SU carburetors. Factory-rated output was 210 horsepower. An electric fan is fitted, and the seller states that the engine leaks oil from multiple seals and is prone to overheating during warmer weather. Corrosion is visible near the battery box and firewall.

The engine block stamping depicted above matches the number listed on the data plate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

A tonneau cover, owner’s manual, and side curtains are included in the sale. The car is titled in Oregon under the engine number.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
