I would love to see some photo's of this car, is it still located in Switzerland and owned by the same person?

Hello

Our XK120 #660097 has the seat backs of an alloy OTS with the squared recesses for the soft top scissors. I am really unsure if they are a modification made by the first owner, because the interior colour changed also in the cars early years.

For this reason would it eventually be possible to send me or post a backside picture of the seat backs from #660093 with the hinges and the recesses visible?

Thank you very much indeed!

Lukas

1950 Jaguar XK120 Competition Race Car For Sale (carandclassic.com)

Owned for 40 years, this XK120 has had a hugely competitive career having been a class winner in the 1989 Panamericana road race through Mexico. Has numerous other wins to its credit in the USA & across Europe & the UK. An exciting project for someone with vision. Complete with parts & double deck trailer.

I paid over £100000. 00 in 1988 & I am asking £48, 500. 00 today in its current condition, Would consider constructive offers or part exchange. Maturing years forces sale. Please call or email for further details.

A brief description & history of the racer as follows:

This car is a left hand drive & was developed extensively by Christopher Lawrence of Morgan & Le mans winning fame. He was a highly competent engineer & even more competent racing driver. This car was developed by a wealthy American enthusiast as a no expense spared project, he simply wanted to see Lawrence sweep the board at all the west coast Californian race circuits, which it did. I purchased the Jaguar from Lord Anthony Rufus Isaacs in the late 80's & pretty well cleaned up at all the race circuits in California. I. E: Willow Springs, Lagoona Seca, Palm Springs to name but a few.

I competed in the 1989 Pan Americana road race which went from Guatemala to Texas, managing to achieve a class win in the event. I participated in 2 subsequent Pan Americana's & bought the Jaguar back to the UK in the early 90's , where I competed in various Jaguar car club events & rallies in Wales. I also participated in the Tour de France road race & was part of the Intermarc Race Team, which was a 10 race event taking in circuits all over the country, which Jaguar won. I also had a track record at Cadwell Park, which I was awarded a trophy for.

The Jaguar was laid up in the early 90's & has not seen the light of day for 30 years. The Jaguar comes with a double deck trailer & I am open to constructive offers as I am no longer interested in competitive driving due to age & ill health. It does not have the original engine or gearbox, this car was a highly modified race car & the engine was so highly tuned it was impractical. The engine is a 3. 8 but needs building to whatever spec you require.

If I were to keep the XK I would fit it with a fast road/ race 3. 8 engine. It has an e-type 4 speed gearbox which goes with it but again I would go for a Gertrac 5 speed gearbox. Ref the back axle, I would fit it with a 150 or MK 2 axle with a limited slip dif. It has a xk140 rack & pinion steering assembly & full double ventilated disc brake system, apart from the fuel cell & roll bar, basically this is an out & out road/ race car which is an all round, fun voltage competitive XK.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
