Year of manufacture 1950
Exterior brand colour Bronze
Jaguar XK120 competition car. Chassis 660386 is an early RHD roadster with an extensive period race history including five meetings at Goodwood, six at Silverstone, two at Boreham and other appearances at Snetterton and Prescott.
MNK120 was manufactured in December 1950 and delivered via Henlys to Duncan T Russell, the managing director of J W Russell Ltd, an auto-electric company in Watford. Russell was an accomplished and enthusiastic competitor who began his career pre-war with a Hillman Aero Minx and was active in the Herts County Auto and Aero Club for many years, finally retiring as Chairman in 1964.
Russell began racing MNK120 in 1951 and continued through to the end of the 1952 season during which time he competed against the top UK drivers of the period including Moss, Rolt, Parnell, Duke, Hamilton and Salvadori. He was a regular entrant in both international and national level race meetings and secured a number of podium finishes. As was common at this time he gradually uprated his car to improve performance and changed the colour from Silver to Blue for the 1952 season. What is more unusual, and what makes this car so special, is that it suffered no significant accidents and consequently remains highly original to this day with matching numbers to engine block, gearbox, chassis and body.
MNK120 will be subject to a full JD Classics chassis-off restoration during 2016 and provides a very rare opportunity to acquire a highly original Goodwood competition car that is eligible for all major international events.
