    Lot #213493

This 1950 Jaguar XK120 roadster was refinished in silver over red leather under previous ownership before being purchased by its current owner in 2020. Powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission, the car is equipped with 16″ steel wheels, hubcaps, whitewall tires, a tan tonneau cover, rear wheel spats, driving lights, dual SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a set of unused Firestone tires and hubcaps as well as side curtains, a tool roll, and an Illinois title in the owner’s name.

This example is believed to have been refinished in its current shade of silver under previous ownership. Exterior equipment includes a tan tonneau cover, a split windshield, chrome front bumpers, driving lights, chrome rear bumperettes, and removable rear wheel spats. Chipped chrome and corrosion are evident on the passenger-side front bumper.

Silver-finished 16″ steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and trim rings are mounted with whitewall tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shocks. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums.

The seats are upholstered in red leather, which is complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. Amenities include a passenger-side grab handle, door-panel map pockets, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage. The seller notes that the speedometer, odometer, and tachometer are not functional. The five-digit odometer shows 2k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

A plaque affixed to the dash commemorates the XK120 being declared the fastest production car in the world in May 1949, when it achieved 132.6 mph on a stretch of autoroute near Jabbeke, Belgium.

The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and an aluminum radiator. Work in May 2025 included replacing both batteries, installing a kill switch, and changing the oil.

Engine block stamping W1531-8 shown above matches the number listed on the underhood identification plate, and the number A2607-8 stamped on the cylinder head can be viewed in the gallery below.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the differential’s pinion seal leaks after prolonged driving.

The Illinois title lists “Mileage Not Required” in the Legend(s) section.
