Car returns to ebay 10/25/12 www.schmitt.com
Sellers description:
Finished in gorgeous British Racing Green and stitched in impeccable black leather interior, this 1950 Jaguar XK120 is fresh from a complete professional nut and bolt restoration. This stunning automobile does not disappoint in any way. The paint gleams, the body is laser-straight, the panel gaps are spot-on, and the fit and finish is superb. The 3.4 liter inline-6 makes beautiful sounds and the car drives as a high performing XK120 should. The XK120 debuted as a limited production showcase of Jaguar's new 3.4 liter engine, however, the public's response to the breathtaking coachwork was so strong, the company decided to put the car into regular production. Looking at one today, it is easy to see why the can was an instant classic. It is truly rolling sculpture and a shape which one never tires of admiring.

This 1950 Jaguar XK120 roadster was built on August 10, 1950 and shipped to Los Angeles via Hornburg Jaguar. The car was repainted British Racing Green during a refurbishment prior to 2011, and it is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a black convertible top, removable side curtains, a split front windshield, chrome bumpers and bumperettes, 16″ steel wheels with hubcaps and bright trim rings, a heater, and Smiths gauges. The current owner purchased the car in 2025, and work in preparation for the sale is said to have included rebuilding the carburetors, overhauling the brakes, and replacing the spark plugs and some fuel lines. This XK120 roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a California title.
The XK120 roadster debuted at the 1948 London Motor Show and featured handmade aluminum bodywork over an ash wood frame until steel bodywork began being utilized on XK120s in mid-1950. This steel-bodied example came finished from the factory in Pastel Blue and was repainted in British Racing Green during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior equipment includes a black convertible top, removable side curtains, a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, rear wheel spats, and dual polished exhaust outlets.
The body-color 16″ steel wheels with hubcaps are mounted with Firestone Deluxe Champion tires measuring 6.00-16. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type Newton shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums, which were overhauled and fitted with replacement wheel cylinders and lines in January 2026. The upper control arm bushings were also replaced at this time.
The cabin features bucket seats with black leather upholstery complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a heater, a passenger-side grab handle, door map pockets, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 160 horsepower. The upper radiator hose and a fuel line were replaced in January 2026. The carburetors are also said to have been rebuilt in January 2026, and additional work involved replacing the spark plugs and various fuel lines. Service records dating back to 1960s are shown in the gallery below, and the selling dealer reports that the car is known to have had seven previous owners since that time.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Production Record Trace Certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust lists the original colors and drivetrain numbers for chassis 670555 as well as the build and dispatch dates.
The engine number, W1494-8, and the body number, F 1727 correspond with those listed on the the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and the car is titled using the first five digits of the engine number. No serial number is visible on the cylinder head.
The California title lists “Title Only.”
