Wonderful, your car is a time capsule. I hope you (someone or many) can take thousands of pictures to document it in factory delivered condition before a wrench is turned on it.

Car sold on eBay for US$175,000. At a time when hardly any XKs actually sell on eBay (although there are frequently 10 or more offered for sale at any one time, some having been offered for months), this is an amazing result. It is also a further indication that apparently unrestored un-mucked-about with cars are fetching premium prices. As they say, 'a car can be restored many times, but is only original ONCE'. Would love to see some more pics to check out its originality.

The Market Observer in the March 2012 edition of the XK Gazette reports the car sold for $154K

    Additional description from above auction:
Completed by Jaguar on March 11, 1952, this XK120 was originally finished in the rare and elegant color combination of Pastel Green with a darker Suede Green interior and a contrasting Fawn top.

After arriving in the US, the new XK was delivered through Hornburg Jaguar to foreign-car dealership Peter Satori Motors of Pasadena, California. On April 24, 1952, the Jaguar was sold to its first owner Dr. H.D. Fremont of La Crescenta, California.

Shortly after taking delivery, Dr. Fremont found it difficult to clear his driveway in the Jaguar, the low stance and exhaust causing the rear to drag on the steep incline. To resolve this inconvenience, he installed a dual exhaust routed through the rear fenders, a feature seen on many competition-prepared Jaguars of the period.

Dr. Fremont used the Jaguar for occasional weekend outings until 1962 when he purchased a new Corvette, which he traded in for a newly released split-window Stingray the following year.

On April 24, 1977, exactly 15 years to the date of his original purchase, Dr. Fremont sold the 13,399-mile XK120 to fellow La Crescenta resident John Wells.

Over the next few year, Mr. Wells displayed his remarkable find at several local events, including the Ambassador Hotel Concours, Santa Barbara Concours, Le Cercle d'Elegance show, Queen Mary British Car Show and the 1978 Los Angeles Auto Show held at the Downtown Convention Center. As a result of its impressively original condition and marvelous appearance, the Jaguar was featured in the 1978 issue of Old Cars Weekly and Antique Motor News.

In the 1980s, the Jaguar was retired from the road and placed on jack stands in the back of Mr. Wells' home garage. It remained there until its recent discovery by a Jaguar collector with a passion for unrestored, original examples.

Other than sympathetic attention to the braking system, the XK120 has been left in its undisturbed, as-found condition. Amazingly, the paintwork remains almost entirely original, with the exception of some minor touch-ups on the front fender. Similarly, the leather upholstery and carpets are beautifully preserved, with only one small section of the passenger's seat in need of repair. The undercarriage retains factory chalk marks and the excellent condition of the oil pan, chassis and brakes attest to its 14,850 original miles.

Remarkably, this Jaguar is offered with its original top, tires, windshield glass, key fobs, spark plug loom and original Lucas batteries complete with their top caps. In addition, the XK retains its side curtains (unused and enclosed in the original wrapping), factory-delivered tool kit, jack and gasket set, as well as wooden pegs designed for use with a rarely seen dealer-optioned luggage rack.

The sale of this car is further accompanied by a collection of NOS spares (oil filters, spark plugs and hoses) and a file of documentation that includes ownership records, receipts, black- and-yellow California plates, the operating, maintenance and service handbook as well as the factory warranty, still in the envelope addressed to Dr. Fremont. There is even a charming logbook kept by Mr. Wells that records various expenses from fuel purchases to registration costs.

Given its irreplaceable character, charming history and exceptionally low mileage, this XK120 should appeal to those with a reverence for highly original, unrestored automobiles and is virtually guaranteed to draw a captive audience wherever it goes.

Car to return to auction 9/15

    Auction description:
    London 7 September 2015
    1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
    Without Reserve
    Chassis no. 671957
    Engine no. W 4472-8
    Body no. F 3920
    Gearbox no. JL 9804
Well-preserved example with less than 15,000 original miles
    Matching numbers throughout
    Well documented, including original documentation
    Recent service and recommissioning

The highly original XK120 offered here was completed in March 1952 and originally finished in the rare and elegant colour combination of Pastel Green over a darker Suede Green interior, with a contrasting fawn top. Peter Satori Motors in California took delivery of the car, and one month later, it was sold to its first owner, Dr H.D. Fremont. Interestingly, dual exhaust pipes that exit through rear wings on each side were installed, which is an intriguing period upgrade for the model. The first owner only used the car occasionally for weekend outings until 1962, after which time the Jaguar was carefully stored until 1977. With just 13,339 miles on the odometer, the car was sold to another local resident, Mr John Wells, and was shown at several events over the next few years.

During the 1980s, for the second time in its life, the XK120 was carefully stored. It was then sold to Chris Boillit, of Arizona, in 2010. The car is offered today showing less than 15,000 miles, and it is presented in a well-preserved original condition, still retaining its original chassis, engine, gearbox, and body. Accompanying the car is an extensive file of ownership records, receipts, and operating, maintenance, and service handbooks, as well as the factory warranty in the envelope, which is addressed to Dr Fremont. The Jaguar also includes a factory-delivered tool kit, jack, gasket set, and even the original side curtains, which remain unused and in their original packaging.

More recently, an extensive major service was undertaken to ensure that this highly original XK120 continues to run as well as the day it was delivered. The recommissioning included relining the brake shoes, replacing the brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders, rebuilding the fuel pump, replacing the H.T. leads, and finally, overhauling the radiator. The Jaguar was then test-driven by an XK specialist, who commented on how well the car drives and that it was surprisingly quick, attesting to how sporting these cars were when new.

This XK120 offers a truly a rare opportunity to acquire a well-preserved original example with low mileage and fantastic documentation, and one that still remains eligible for the world's greatest historic motoring events, such as the Mille Miglia Storica, Le Mans Classic, and Tour Auto.
