A different engine and gearbox is shown above compared with the original numbers on Heritage Certificate. Not surprising with such a competition history

I am convinced that the original engine was changed by Jaguar Factory immediately after the 1952 Champions Race, being a LHD to be sent to US . Very probably the factory built a new identification plate with new engine or/and gearbox numbers ( I saw it in the picture sent to me by the seller several years ago ) when fitting a new engine .

The car, driven by Tony Gaze, had drive train problems in that Race , finishing for that reason at the rear of the pack. But there also was a - story in the story - concerning this car in that race.. I will talk about everything in an article I am writing at the moment concerning the 1952 Silverstone Champions Race .

About the declared info above "built 1951" it should be surely wrong due the position of chassis numbers . . . . . there was a small change in early-mid 1952 , so impossible to be built in 1951, as obviously per its chassis numbers . . . . . .
