Current bid $11,211 reserve not met, 11 bids, 9 days left in auction. Amissville, Virginia
Sellers description:
1952 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster
Last driven in the mid 1980's, stored since. This Jag spent it's working life in California and was only driven in Virginia during the spring and fall. It has been in my family for 45 years.
It is a 3 or 4 owner car, was driven mainly for pleasure and shown in JCNA events up until the mid 70's. It has no rust or body damage. The respray in lacquer and redone interior date from the Early 60's.
The modifications are 2" sandcast SU's, C type head, solid skirt pistons, improved lubrication, aluminum flywheel, lowered suspension and high ratio diff. This was one very fast 120. It was taken off the road in the mid 80's because the flywheel threw it's ring gear, hasn't been started since, but I have kept the cylinders lubed with mystery oil.
The car is complete, minus the oval window for the top. The interior is very presentable, has only a couple of scratches in the driver's seat, but everything needs to be cleaned up and some of the panels need to be reglued. Has a Nardi steering wheel
The paint needs to be redone, cracks, checks and flakes just like the original stuff.
Chrome is good with the exception of the windshield pillars (typical)
The numbers match with the exception of the cylinder head, the c type was installed in the late 50's. I have not yet confirmed whether the diff is a high ratio or the original. Obviously, mechanically everything will need to be gone through, though the only problem 20 years ago was the ring gear coming off.
This is a very solid car, do as much as you wish to make it a driver, or show car. Really wouldn't be far from a vintage racer either.
I have alot of undocumented history from my mother, but can't confirm it.
