This 1953 Jaguar XK120 roadster was completed on November 4, 1952, and was originally distributed in the US through Hoffman Motors in New York. It was acquired by its previous owner from a California dealer in 2016 as a project and subsequently shipped to Europe, where a restoration was carried out in Poland. After completion of the project in 2018, the car was returned to Florida, where it was acquired by the seller in February 2020. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 3.4L inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Modifications include a color change to metallic silver over tan leather with burgundy piping, a burgundy soft top, an aluminum radiator, an electric cooling fan, a walnut dash, wire wheels, and an electrical cutoff switch. Work performed since the seller’s purchase has consisted of overhauling the cylinder head, replacing the lower timing chain, a conversion to a hydraulic chain tensioner, replacing the rear springs, and fitting new batteries. This XK120 is now offered with a copy of a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, side curtains, a knock-off wrench and hammer, recent service records, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in British Racing Green, the exterior was repainted in white at some point before the previous owner’s acquisition. It was refinished in its current shade of silver metallic during the restoration carried out in Poland. An area of corrosion at the lower right corner inside of the trunk has been touched up, and is shown both before and after the repair.

16” wire wheels secured by two-eared knock-offs were added during the restoration in place of the original disc wheels and wear Michelin Pilote X tires. A burgundy soft top was fitted in lieu of the original black top.

The cabin has been re-trimmed in tan leather with burgundy piping and matching wool carpeting with burgundy leather binding. A burl walnut dash has been added, and a black four-spoke steering wheel has been retained. Burgundy and tan carpeting lines the rear shelf and trunk, and matching floormats are included.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an integrated clock, as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 34k miles, about 125 of which have been added by the seller.

The 3.4L XK inline-six features dual overhead camshafts and is fed by twin SU carburetors. Factory-rated output was 160 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The cylinder head was rebuilt in March 2020 with new valves, guides, and camshafts, and a new lower timing chain was installed along with a hydraulic tensioner. New batteries were also installed at that time, and wiring corrections were carried out. A custom aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan were added by the previous owner, along with an electrical cutoff switch at the batteries and an alternator that retains the original generator’s appearance. Number W6492-8 is stamped on the cylinder head, which has been painted red along with the inside of the engine bay. The serial corresponds to that on the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, and a matching stamp is on the block.

New leaf springs were installed in 2020 following the seller’s acquisition. Hydraulic drum brakes have been retained all around.

A copy of the Jaguar Heritage Certificate lists the original completion date, component numbers, and colors.
