Ebay item 9/4/13
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1954-Jaguar-XK120-Roadster-OTS-3-4L-unrestored-and-very- ...
Current bid $26,600 reserve not met 13 bids 6 days left in auction. 47k miles.

Sellers description:
Un-restored and mostly original 1954 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster (OTS), black with worn, patina'd original red leather interior, solid undercarriage and body, comes with top, side curtains, and original owner's manual. Overall a largely original example that runs and drives, and is mechanically sound. The body and paintwork have much patina and the body maintains some vestiges of its original paint. The car has been largely unused and stored indoors for over 40 years with the same owner. The car is located in Rigaud, Quebec, Canada, just to the West of Montreal.

Opening bid $30,000 reserve not met, no bids 6 days left in auction. Same location, seller alfaromeodriver, 24k miles.

Sellers description:
Here's a true survivor! Purchased back in 1958 by its 2nd owner, this car originally came to Canada from France, where it was driven by a French medical student. When he was returning to France in 1958, the current owner purchased the car for his personal use. He drove it very little and it has mostly been in storage as part of a small collection of other classic and vintage cars. The car wears most of its original paint. The passenger door was dented many years ago and was repaired and repainted, and the forward-most top of the front fenders appears to have been repainted as well. The remainder of the original black paint is still on the car, and there are some areas where the primer is beginning to show through as a result of polishing and washing over the years. The charmingly cracked and worn original wine red leather interior is still intact, although it appears that the carpet was replaced at some point. The original top and side curtains are still usable, but the window plastic has yellowed over time. The trunk floor has had some rust repair panels added. Recently, the car has been gone over mechanically and it runs and drives. The brake master cylinder has just been replaced.

This car isn't perfect, but is a very good example of a 'survivor' car. A car is only 'original' once! This one is just that.

Located just West of Montreal Canada, and only about an hour's drive from Malone NY, this XK120 has been owned by a collector who is its 2nd owner. He has owned the car for almost 60 years, but has not used the car much for many of those years. Over the past two years, the car has been mechanically tuned and repaired as necessary so that it can move under its own power.

First owner Jean Jacques Normand.
Jean Jacques Normand entered a Jaguar xk120 in the Watkins Glen Trophy race, could this be the car? I would be interested if anyone has any information please.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
