1954 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster. Red with tan leather interior. Full top and two cockpit covers. 13 year old restoration with 400 miles since restored. All tool and records. This is a great driver, not a concourse car with the odd ding and dent and paint imperfection but very complete. Car returns to ebay 7/27/13
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1954-Jaguar-XK120-OTS-Gorgeous-Restored-Numbers-Matching ...
Current bid $8,100 reserve not met 4 bids 9 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Santa Barbara, California. 100k miles.

Sellers description:
Offered for sale is an absolutely stunning, restored, numbers matching 1954 Jaguar XK120 OTS (Open Two Seater) finished in timeless Red over Biscuit with a tan soft top and side curtains. Having spent a majority of its life in Victoria, British Columbia, the car has always been the recipient of "pride of ownership" care and maintenance, a coveted weekend driver up until the 1990s, at which point it joined a large private collection. Always kept out of the elements, when the previous owner bought the car it was still impressively original and solid, providing an excellent platform for the thorough restoration he commissioned roughly 15 years ago. Since that time the car has received sparing and careful use, evidenced by the fantastic shape it's in now.

Mechanically the car is excellent, the numbers matching engine (#F1741-8) starting effortlessly, idling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the original Moss gearbox's four gears. In the past year the brakes and wheel cylinders have been gone through, the clutch has been replaced, the carburetors have been rebuilt and the ignition system has been upgraded and sorted. The experience from the driver's seat is grin-inducing, the trademark Jaguar exhaust note and visceral drive quality truly one of a kind. While many other marques produced competitors, no other 1950s sports car was as stylish and elegant while at the same time gutty and raw. It's easy to understand why the XK was a game changer then and an icon now.

As the pictures illustrate, the car is breath-takingly beautiful, the high quality restoration holding up marvelously. The paint is deep and lustrous, marred only by negligible imperfections that don't appear in any of the pictures. The brightwork, rubber and glass are all in exceptional condition and the soft top and side curtains are virtually unused. The soft leather seats and correct, plush carpets show only negligible wear and the dash is correct with fully functioning gauges. The undercarriage is original, rust-free and correct, as is the body. The car sits on new, correct chrome wire wheels and tires and also comes with a full tonneau cover, original spare tire, owner's handbook and a binder full of receipts and records.

Considering its gorgeous aesthetic condition and strong mechanicals, this would be ideal candidate for touring events such as the Colorado Grand, California Mille, etc. That said, regardless of its next owners' intentions, we're certain this car will provide them with years of pleasure and continued pride of ownership. Please bid accordingly.

Car to return to auction 6/14
www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/21-06-2014-RockinghamCastle-1367/1954JaguarXK1 ...

Auction description:
Sale Date: 21st June 2014
Lot Number: 74
1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
Estimate: (£) 80,000 - 100,000

Reg Number: 862 UYE
Chassis Number: 674695
Engine Number: F1741-8
Cc: 3500
Body Colour: Red
Trim Colour: Beige
MOT ExpiryDate: Exempt

This very striking left-hand drive XK is finished in Red that's complemented by Biscuit-coloured leather trim and a Beige hood and carpets, and rides on chromed wire wheels. It is believed to be a Special Equipment model, and fixed to the interior is an apparently original plaque bearing the following significant inscription: 'It is certified that this Jaguar car is an exact replica of the record-breaking car which attained the speed of 132.6mph at Jabbeke Belgium, 30 May, 1949. William Haynes, Chief Engineer, Jaguar Cars.' The Jaguar reputedly spent some years in a Canadian museum before being purchased by the vendor in California and repatriated. It has clearly been the subject of an expensive restoration at some stage and is still highly presentable. The vendor's view is that the interior trim is 'superb', the XK engine and manual four-speed transmission 'excellent', and the bodywork and paintwork 'very good'. He adds 'it is a very nice driver and in excellent running condition'. The Roadster has recently benefited from the fitting of new brake cylinders and clutch. The SU carburettors have been refurbished, the ignition system upgraded and the whole car treated to a thorough service. '862 UYE' is now offered for sale complete with side-screens and tonneau cover, and an extensive history file that includes numerous bills and receipts. An interesting and attractive-looking example of this fine British breed.

Auction description:
NEC Classic Motor Show Sale
1954 Jaguar XK120 3.4 Special Equipment Roadster
Lot No.: 313
Registration: 862 UYE
Chassis Number: 674695
Engine Number: F1741-8
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3400
Year of Manufacture: 1954
Estimate (£): 45,000 - 55,000

Museum quality. A term often used, but this stunning XK120 actually was a museum piece...

This XK120 3.4 in left hand drive is the desirable Special Equipment model.

Having spent a majority of its life in Victoria, British Columbia, the car has always been the recipient of care and maintenance, a coveted weekend driver up until the 1990s, at which point it joined a large collection at a private Canadian museum. Always kept out of the elements, when the previous owner bought the car it was still impressively original and solid, providing an excellent platform for the thorough restoration he commissioned approximately sixteen years ago. We are told by the vendor that the car had 48,000 on the odometer before the restoration whereupon it was reset. Today the odometer reads 00754. Following restoration the car resided with the vendor in California where it was used sparingly, it was repatriated to the UK in 2014.

Maintained to the highest standard by previous owners this best of breed example has spent some time as a showpiece at a Jaguar dealership, it is quite literally a showroom car. Subjected to an extensive restoration the car presents very well, and mechanically it has benefitted from recent works to produce faultless motoring. These include the fitting of new brake cylinders and clutch. The SU carburettors have also been refurbished, the ignition system upgraded and the whole car treated to a thorough service. New chrome plated wire wheels have also been fitted. The roof, biscuit leather interior and accessories are in superlative order.

Offered with an impeccable history file, including recent bills, the XK comes complete with side-screens and tonneau cover. Perhaps it is time for this Big Cat to be released into the wild, it is certainly well prepared for it.
