www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm

Auction description:
The Monterey Sports and Classic Car Auction
19 - 20 August 2005
Lot 275
1954 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster
Sold for $88,000
Chassis no. F38758

The gorgeous XK 120 Roadster presented here was soldnew to Judge Van Luven of San Bernadino, California, and during its life has covered just over 83,000 miles prior to its complete restoration. This XK 120 is a matching numbers very authentic car, right down to the factory issued sealed beam headlights that are numbered 942 and 943 respectively!

The meticulous restoration was completed by Nick's Old Car Specialty shop that is known in the Southern California area for their exceptional workmanship on a wide range of cars including prize winning classics, street rods and Jaguars. The spectacular red paint is done in lacquer and all of the chrome work was completed by the renowned Christensen Plating & Works. The Jaguar has consistently scored above 99 points the many times it has been shown. It has been part of a private East Coast Collection for the last four years during which time it has always been wellmaintained and kept in proper running and driving
condition. One of the most impressive aspects of this car is without question its paintwork - we encourage those interested to closely inspect this example in person. As one of the grandest and greatest designs of its time, the fabled Jaguar XK 120 is well represented by this very elegant example.

Addendum
Please note the current owner of this example has related that the XK 120 offered here was formerly owned by the legendary actor Mr. Gregory Peck. At the 1992 San Diego National Jaguar meet the car earned Best of Show honors. That same year the XK 120 received Best in Class at the Peterson Automotive Museum Concours. Additionally, the Jaguar was honored with Best in Show and Class at the 1993 Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance. This vehicle is titled by the engine number.

Car was at auction in '08

Auction description:
Automobiles of Arizona
18 January 2008
Lot 191
1954 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster
To be auctioned on Friday, January 18, 2008
Sold for $159,500
Chassis no. F38758

The gorgeous XK 120 Roadster presented here was sold new to Judge Van Luven of San Bernadino, California. Prior to its restoration we understand the Jaguar showed just over 83,000 miles. Most impressively, the XK 120 is a matching numbers, completely authentic car - right down to the factory issued sealed beam headlights that are numbered 942 and 943 respectively!
The meticulous restoration was completed by Nick's Old Car Specialty shop, a firm known in the Southern California area for their exceptional workmanship on a wide range of cars, including prize-winning classics, street rods and Jaguars. The spectacular red paint was applied in lacquer, and all of the chrome work was completed by the renowned Christensen Plating & Works.
The Jaguar has consistently scored above 99 points the many times it has been shown. In its previous ownership, the car was part of a private East Coast collection, where it had been well maintained and kept in proper running and driving condition. RM Auctions sold the Jaguar on behalf of its previous owner to the current owner, who continued in the trend of maintaining the handsome car's outstanding cosmetic and mechanical condition. Most recently, the carburetors were fully rebuilt, and the entire fuel system, including the tank, were all restored or replaced as needed. Overall, the Jaguar runs and drives as expected and will delight its next owner with performance that appropriately complements its gorgeous aesthetics.
One of the most impressive aspects of this car is without question its paintwork - we encourage those interested to closely inspect this example in person. As one of the grandest and greatest designs of its time, the fabled Jaguar XK 120 is well represented by this very elegant example.
