What an interesting specimen! Anything known about who rebodied the car?

Recent correspondence in XK Gazette with Barney Majette of Florida optimistically claims Pinin Farina and Le Mans connections both dismissed by experts, Anders Clausager's p.212 book says New to Lagerwijs in Holland and customised by unknown coachbuilder perhaps after accident damage Just another ugly duckling

I think that's a rather elegant way of putting it. I have also seen so many "Le Mans" cars and the difference between "special" and something actually built by a company like Zagato, Ghia or Pininfarina is sometimes very, very big. Yes, it is special, but so are we all. It's a modified custom bodied XK, no more, no less. Cheers!

Special, built by Pennock of the Hague Netherlands

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
