This 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe is a left-hand-drive example that was acquired in Winnipeg, Canada by the seller’s father in 1961 and underwent a body-off refurbishment between 1997 and 2019. The car is finished in black over red leather and powered by a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 16″ chrome knock-off wire wheels, a burl-wood dash panel, dual SU carburetors, electronic ignition, aluminum racing pedals, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. This XK120 coupe is now offered in Canada with refurbishment photos and documents, factory wheels and fender spats, a conditional sale contract from 1961, and a British Columbia registration in the seller’s name.
During the refurbishment, the body was removed from the frame and mounted to a rotisserie before it was stripped to bare metal and repainted in black. At that time wooden inner door structures were installed and replacement door skins were fitted. Features include chrome rear bumperettes, fender vents, a split windshield, fender-mounted side mirrors, and chrome front bumpers. Additional photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery below.
During the refurbishment, the car was fitted with chrome-finished 16″ wire wheels with Jaguar-branded knock-offs as well as Avon Turbospeed Mk4 Nylon tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The seller notes that the factory steel wheels, hub caps, and rear spats are included in the sale.
The reupholstered cabin is trimmed in red leather with matching inner door panels and carpets. A modified pedal box with aluminum racing pedals was installed during the refurbishment, and amenities include a burl walnut dash panel, a heater, and a locking glovebox.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, engine temperature, amps, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles, approximately 1k of which are said to have been added since the completion of the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown.
The original engine block was reportedly replaced with a 3.4-liter block from an XK140 during the refurbishment. Features include dual SU carburetors, black enamel-finished exhaust manifolds, a 12-volt charging system conversion, and electronic ignition.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. A stainless-steel exhaust system is fitted.
