Chassis Number: 804290

Engine Number: G4300-8

Sold For £38,080

This most striking of XK140s is a 1955 'home market' model that's finished in Caviar Metallic complemented by Beige leather upholstery and white wall tyres. It has been the subject of much recent refurbishment, during which many body panels were replaced, all glasswork, lighting and the steering wheel renewed, the brakes overhauled and converted to discs all-round and the woodwork renovated. A radio has been discreetly installed complete with iPod connector and the vendor now regards the bodywork as "very good", the interior trim as "like new", the engine as "excellent" and the overdrive manual gearbox as "working very well". 'RLX 345' currently displays an unwarranted 37,556 miles and is MOT'd into March next year.

Classified ad, asking £74,995. Car now said to be in Brockworth, Gloucestershire.

Sellers description:
Jaguar XK140 FHC Recently Completed Body Of Restoration

Finished in stunning Aubergine metallic paint with fantastic contrasting light cream interior.

The pictures of this car do not do it justice. In the flesh the car is absolutely breathtaking.

Subject to a recent full body of restoration the car is mint. The paintwork is like glass so much so, photographing without reflections was a problem. It is just beautiful & unmarked.

The engine has been subject to the usual treatment, being totally stripped down & rebuilt with block & manifolds all painted, & yes it sounds awesome, & ticks over lovely.

The interior is re-trimmed in a light cream sumptuous leather.
All interior wood has been replaced or restored.

The white wall tyres & wire wheels just finish of the cars looks, enhancing the cars many curves & features.

Current bid £40,200 reserve not met, 22 bids 1 day left in auction. Same location.

Additional description:
Recently Completed Full Body Of Restoration.
Finished in stunning Aubergine metallic paint with fantastic contrasting light cream interior.
No expense was spared during the restoration. Every last nut & bolt has either been replaced
or restored. Receipts on file total around £60,000 for parts alone during 2011 with the restoration
being completed in Spring 2012. The car is beleived to have cost well in excess of £100,000 to restore.

The car was stripped down to a bare shell. The shell was totally restored using new replacement panels where necessary.
All repairs needed where leaded where possible & attention to detail made. The shell was then given several coats
of paint in a 2010 Jaguar colour called Caviar metallic. The bonnet is a rare flutted vented version & just adds one
more dimension to the many curves & lines on this car.

The 3.4 ltr engine has been fully rebuilt. On completion the engine was fully painted, with new painted exhaust manifolds
to the SE spec twin exhaust system. The car has not traveled many miles since, probably around 100 or so.
It sounds throaty & at the same time purrs.

The seats have all been retrimmed in sumptuous cream leather that compliment the Caviar Metallic colour fantastic.
All the wood has been replaced or restored & is all like new. A discreet I-Pod connection is placed behind the dash.

Since photographing we have removed the white wall tyres for standard black.

Chassis No 804290 Body No J4777 Engine No G4300-8 Gearbox JL 30695 Hope that helps you. Car is the best i've seen, it has recently undergone a full body of restoration. Receipts on file for £10's of thousand probably near the £60,000 - £70,000 mark for work & parts on the car in 2010 / 2011. Car was only finished this year. Since then I have spent a further £10,000 on the car to get it to it's finished condition. There are probably a hundred different photo's including many from the body of re-build. The car is beautiful o look at, it is like a work of art. The colour combination is breathtaking.

Car returned to auction 7/13
classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php

Auction description:
Lot number 108
Hammer value £52,000
Description Jaguar XK140 FHC
Registration RLX 345
Year 1955
Colour Metallic Caviar
Engine size 3,442 cc
Chassis No. 804290
Engine No. G4300-8

This particular XK140 was first registered in London in July 1955. As you can probably tell from the photographs, this is a truly stunning example which has recently emerged from a total nut-and-bolt restoration which took some two years to complete (2011-12) and ultimately cost around £100,000 with a vast pile of bills to prove.

During the restoration the car was repainted in Jaguar Caviar Metallic, a very dark red which gives it an almost menacing air that is accentuated by the body-colour painted wire wheels (although a new set of chrome wire wheels can be substituted should the new owner prefer). A desirable overdrive gearbox model, it also has a louvred bonnet for more efficient cooling and has been fitted with front disc brakes for enhanced stopping power.

The 3.4-litre engine has been totally rebuilt and detailed, with an SE-spec twin exhaust system for improved breathing and a throatier soundtrack. The interior has been fully retrimed in cream leather with refurbished woodwork and new beige carpets. All the glasswork has been replaced and a discreet i-Pod connection is fitted behind the dash.

Since the restoration was completed the car has only covered a couple of hundred miles and is barely run in. Supplied with a large history file, a choice of wire wheels and a Heritage Certificate confirming its origins, this fabulous motorcar is being offered here at a fraction of the costs lavished on it to date.

Auction description:
Lot 247
1955 Jaguar XK140 Coupé
£90,000 - 120,000
US$ 120,000 - 150,000
Goodwood Revival
9 Sep 2017, 13:00 BST
Chichester, Goodwood
Registration no. ULX 140
Chassis no. 804290
*One of 843 right-hand drive XK140 Coupés
*Professionally restored to concours standard
*Overdrive transmission
*A stunning example

One of only 843 right-hand drive XK140 fixed-head coupés made, this example has undergone a total 'last nut and bolt' professional restoration to concours standard. The latter included a complete bare-shell body restoration with new panels used where necessary, while painstaking attention to detail has ensured superb shut lines and panel fit. The chassis has been fully overhauled together with the braking, steering, suspension, and electrical systems, as has the engine and original Moss gearbox. The interior likewise has been fully refurbished with new trim and new wood veneers. Other noteworthy features include uprated disc brakes, bonnet louvres, an aluminium radiator and expansion tank; new chrome wire wheels and new tyres; and a new stainless steel twin-outlet exhaust system.

Spectacularly finished in Jaguar Caviar (deep metallic red) with biscuit leather interior and a walnut dashboard, this XK140 is presented in unrivalled condition. It is rare for an XK140 to be restored to this level of quality and detail; the car now looks and drives superbly, and would be equally suitable for shows or long-distance touring. Completed recently, this beautiful XK140 is offered with restoration invoices and a V5C Registration Certificate.
