Car listed as sold at:

Seller's description:

Jaguar XK140 DHC RHD 1955 - SOLD

Chassis no: 807042

This Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupé was originally supplied to Parkers of Bolton in the UK. It is an original UK matching numbers car in excellent condition. The car was restored by Upper Classics in New Zealand to an extremely high standard and was finished in 2006.

The car has been sympathetically upgraded for modern use and benefits from an alternator, electric cooling fan, power steering, inertia seat belts and disc brakes. The car has also been improved with the addition of an overdrive to the gearbox and the rear axle ration has been altered accordingly.

This is a beautifully presented motorcar which drives extremely well and has all the upgrades one needs for modern driving.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
