Car was seen in Germany 9/14 and reported the following to the site.

From Fritz: "I saw a car at the Technorama in Hildesheim / Germany last weekend. A very
nice C-Type, but with a very confusing history. German papers claim the car
is an XK 120 from 1953. The data plate, a very bad reproduction, says
    807311DN. This is definitely a XK 140 from late 55. Engine # says G6118-8.
There is no 807311DN in your list. Do you have any idea what origal car this
    was. Reg. says TXR642.

From David Bentley, The XK Club:
"From factory records: Despatched to Henlys, London (Glovers (DB - Harrogate) crossed out). Pastel Blue / Blue / Black. First owner: Lt Col R L Broad, Wickhambrook, near Newmarket. Transferred to Henlys on 21 Mar 57. 1957 model.

We know that RHD 140 DHC 807311DN originally had eng. G6118-8. We do not know for sure that the XK 140 was registered TXR 642 but all the evidence suggests that it was. The caveat is really whether the 140 chassis is underneath the C-Type replica!"

With this information the car ID and registration is probable but not proven, any additional information about the car would be very welcome.

Anybody out there who knows something about 807311DN ? Tried to get more info through the DVLA in Swansea but as it looks they lost all old records. Registration TXR 642
So, what I know is she was built in 1955, first registered in 57 and sold as a C-Type to Germany in 89 or 90. Unfortunately without the original VIN plate. From then on the history until today is complete.
Who converted her to a C-Type. The replica is first class, about 95% as the original. That doesn´t come often. The engine fits to the original car.
If somebody has information about her or may the original VIN plate, please let me know

The research in the history was successful. 807311DN is a Peter Jaye car.
No. 2 from 12 he built. What a serendipity. She was built in 1981 and went to Sweden first before coming to Germany. The C Type was built around the XK140 hence the XK140 block. The original purchaser wanted Weber carburettors and the only manifold available at that time was for an E Type straight port head.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
