Car mentioned on XK mailing list on Jag-Lovers.org

Text reads:

Here are the numbers from the XK140fhc recently purchased. It is titled 1956, but Porter's book indicates it was built July 1955.
Chassis 814493 (have not verified, looked at the front cross member
tonight, will try the left side tomorrow)
Body J4780 (verified matching)
Engine G4321-8 (verified head and block match)
Transmission JL30531 (have not verified)
The car came from south central Kansas where it had set in a barn for 10 years. The story I got from the previous owner. It was driven from California to Kansas by a retiree whe moved back to Kansas upon retirement.
One of the locals visited with me on the way out of town and told me the old fellow had knocked a wall out of his house, moved the car into his living room to overhaul the motor, and put the wall back up. It sounds like a bit of a tall tale, but sure is funny.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
