I purchased this XK140 DHC, my all-time dream car, in June of 2007. It has turned out to be even better than I had imagined, and I intend to drive it out of my San Francisco home as far as time and gas money allow... (email)

Car was purchased in June 2007 directly from Wilson Motor Company in Washington, Missouri, U.S.A. At that time, it was equipped with steel wheels and spats as shown in the May 2007 photographs above. Since that time, I have added wire wheels and Vredestein radial tires (per the January 2008 photos above), dual stainless exhausts, and a custom boot cover among other things. I also replaced the plastic Hella driving lights (as in the May 2007 photos) with Lucas-type ones and also repositioned them as they would have been on an XK120. The car is an absolute joy to drive and it is being driven! Norman S. Weinfeld San Francisco, California U.S.A. Current Owner

Forgot to mention above that, although this car was manufactured in February 1955 and dispatched (to Toronto, Canada) in March of that year, it somehow somewhere along the line (perhaps even initially...) got registered as a 1957 (which it still is). As above, it was delivered to James L. Cooke Motors in Toronto and sold to an unknown initial owner. In 1964 it was apparently purchased by one "M. Stark," also of Toronto, and then in 1984 by one "Jim Gilchrist" of Sarnia, Ontario from the late Mr. Stark's widow, one "Liz McMillan." It was stored for extended periods through 1993 when it was apparently sold to a Peter Wienke, an anesthesiologist in Washington, Missouri who owned it until I purchased it through Wilson Motors. In 1991, it was "broken out" for "Heather," the daughter of Mr. Stark and Ms. McMillan, to drive to her graduation. All this is by way of a journal started by Mr. Stark but most particularly carried forth by Mr. Gilchrist. If anyone would happen to have any information on the Canadian contingent (or the car's early history including original owner), I would be delighted to hear of it!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.
