We are currently restoring this very original XK150 Fixed Head coupe with careful attention to retaining the cars originality. The car has a few dents and bumps around it and the paint has deteriorated and faded but it is sound so we are going to give it a good hard rub back, repair the dents and damage and repaint it in the original Sherwood Green, All of the body rubbers have perished so they will be replaced as we reassemble the car. The hoodlining has deteriorated so it will be replaced and the seats will have the foam replaced but all the rest of the original interior trimmings will remain. Mechanically the brakes need a comprehensive overhaul, the hubs need replacing and a new stainless exhaust will be fitted. We are also going to fit new chrome wire wheels, a woodrim steering wheel and a woodgrain gearknob with all of the original removed parts stored for refitting later if needed. The beautiful model we offer for sale here has an “S” prefix on the chassis which indicates a “Special Equipment” model, this mean wire wheels, Lucas spot lights, twin exhausts and Overdrive.

It presents superbly having just benefited from a bare metal repaint, new body rubbers, new headlining, repadded seats, full brake overhaul, stainless exhaust and new chrome wires, all work was carried out by specialist Jaguar restorer Gavin King of “Concours Sportscar Restorations”. It also features a Mota-Lita wood rimmed wheel and gear knob, the originals have been retained for the purists.

The mileage is genuine and the car has a super history trail, registered new to a Jaguar dealer in Northern Ireland, it has a plaque on the dash commemorating 50 years of Jaguar issued at a Concours D’Elegance at Shelsley Walsh on the 19th August 1972.

Soon after this in early 1973 the car arrived in Australia and belonged to John Ardley of Jagrange spares in Melbourne, he did not register the car, preffering to use the car as a display piece in his showroom, on arrival in Australia it had covered just 25,000 miles. The car passed to Jim McKeown in 1978 and then to Ian Thomas in 1985 with just 27,500 miles on the clock, Ian was a concours enthusiast and regularly claimed the honours before selling the car in 2004 with 37,000 miles to its last owner.

This matching numbers low mileage car retains it beautiful original leather trim that has a patina that is impossible to recreate and its body is in beautiful shape, the sides of these cars are quite flat and are hard to get right, this car is arrow straight.

This is a car for the real Jaguar XK purist.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.
