The 1960 Jaguar XK150 offered here comes direct from a Leicestershire collector who is only disposing of this fixed head coupe because of the need to thin down his collection. The Coventry-made classic is finished in maroon with tan leather interior, and fitted with painted wire wheels, all of which are described as being in good condition, and all chrome and brightwork has been renewed or replaced. Both doors are said to open and shut very well and do not seem to have dropped in anyway.

The mileage indicated when entered for the sale was 69,738, which is believed to be the correct total from new. Whilst an original logbook with the car shows that the LDJ 768 registration would appear to have been on the vehicle from new. The interior appears to be correct right down to the original steering wheel, the only additional feature being a stereo cassette unit, which is fitted under the dashboard. The engine bay is reportedly clean, having been well detailed, and a stainless steel exhaust fitted. The headlamps have stoneguards and there are a pair of period-correct spotlights.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
