Car registered in UK in 1961 as 187 DYS, is now RHD and original automatic gearbox (still in my possession) has been replaced with 1999 Borg Warner automatic gearbox. Original spoke wheels and tyres retained but replaced with stainless steel spoked wide rims and tyres.

Car now offered at:

Sellers description:
Jaguar XK150 DHC 1957 for sale

This is a very early car built in September 1957 and originally sold in New York, USA. The car was then shipped back to the UK in the 1960's and has been here ever since. This XK150 has undergone extensive work, including a right hand drive conversion and an uprated automatic gearbox.

Mechanically this is an excellent XK. The suspension has been set up extremely well and the car is a joy to drive, the 3.4 engine has recently been treated to a rebuild and has all the right upgrades (Kenlowe electric fan and a header tank). Disc brakes and power steering finish this car off to make it a fantastic and comfortable car to drive, relax and enjoy.

Further to the mechanical upgrades the car is also fitted with an alternator, an alarm and immobilizer, inertia seatbelts and a period radio with iPod connection. This is a car you could comfortably and confidently drive for hours on end with a smile on your face all the way.

Hi I loved this car, it belonged to lovely lady called Kim Mcroberts/Swartz back in the eighties in a village in Wiltshire called corton. It was my weekend job at the age of 12 to drive it out of the garage and clean it. Finances was poor then and I used to cleaned the surface rust with a Brillo pad! It was lhd then with an auto box which when I was taken out in it always made me feel I was the driver. Sadly Kim died of cancer and I lost track of the car. So good to see her in such fab condition.

Car has returned to Twyford:

Seller's description:

This is an older restoration and so does have a few blemishes and imperfections which give it a nice sense of age. Mechanically this XK has every upgrade one could desire. It would be well suited to touring and long distances, has a powerful engine and is real fun to drive. It is a comfortable and refined car and the addition of a period radio which receive FM really makes the cockpit a nice place to be over longer distances. The car is also sold with the rather nice registration plate of '50 SXK'.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
