The Ex-Ian Stewart 1953 Works Jaguar XK120 Coupe
Chassis no 669006, the Ian Stewart car, reg no: KSF 7 was driven in 1953/4 in both Europe and the USA by Ian Stewart who apparently used it as his practice car for Le Mans and Nurburgring 1000K race. Stewart was one of the three founder members and works drivers for Ecurie Ecosse, the highly successful Scottish Racing Team that won le Mans.

The complete restoration has been thorough and very lengthy over a five year period by Nigel Dawes. Restored regardless of cost, this beautiful car is now offered for sale.

1953 Jaguar XK120 FHC Ex Ian Stewart Registration no: KSF 7 Chassis no: 669006
Ian Stewarts own testimony of his old car says more than any motoring historian or any catalogue description could ever say so suffice to say that this is chassis number 6 - the 6th fixed head built and one of the three that were leased by the works to works drivers - Appleyard, Whitehead and - in this case - Stewart. In later years the car was purchased by master restorer Nigel Dawes and restored to the ultimate possible specification for his own personal use. The restoration of the car was total in every respect. The immaculately prepared album that accompanies the car shows the complete restoration from start to finish which in total took nearly five years. This car was one of19 XK120 FHC's restored by Nigel Dawes and these cars are concidered to be the finest of there type in the world. In Dawes' own words "KSF 7 is simply the best, restored regardless of cost and was not intended for sale" This specification list for all Dawes cars is a mouthwatering sight and with KSF 7 it represents the very very best. It includes a seam welded chassis with uprated suspension with full competition torsions and anti roll bars, Spax adjustable shock absorbers, 4 wheel disc brakes inclding 4 pot calibers to the front and rack and pinion steering. A 230 bhp engine with unleaded conversion and a C Type cylinder head and twin 2 inch H8SU sand cast carburettors, 4 speed all syncro gearbox with overdrive and Borrani alluminium wire wheels. Externally the car has a full louvered bonnet with leather retaining strap and quick release Monza type fuel filler car alongside lightweight alluminium bumpers and overriders, door and boot handles and high quality perspex glass to all but the windscreen. Internally the car boasts the finest cockpit imaginable with D Type speedo and rev. counter and full oil pressure, temperature and water temperature gauges, dash mounted aircraft air vents and fllor mounted aircraft fuel tank switch. A Smiths 8 day clock with stopwatch and trip as well as a Heuer Monte Carlo clock and stopwatch and Halda SpeedPi and finished off with a four spoke polished wood rim steering wheel and drilled ally pedals. This dream specification - makes for the perfect car and when combined with the cars early works history and Ecuire Ecosse assoiations along with the ownership and usage of Ian Stewart - KSF 7 is - without doubt - one of the most important, interesting and perfectly restored XK Jaguars of any type in the world
