Car now offered at:

jagxk.com/showroom/jaguar/026-jaguar-xk120-se-fhc-rhd-1953-for-s

Seller's description:

Jaguar XK120 SE FHC RHD 1953 - for sale

This Jaguar XK120 fixedhead coupe is one of just 195 right-hand drive cars to be built. In addition, it is also an original SE (special equipment) model, meaning it was one of the few XK120s to leave the factory with wire wheels along with other improvements.

Fully restored here at Twyford Moors in 2006, this XK120 boasts a most impressive specification. The interior of the car has been upgraded with bucket seats, a 15-inch Moto Lita steering wheel and a pedal box to allow a taller driver to enjoy this XK120 in comfort. Mechanically the engine us been upgraded with a fast road 3.8 litre unit from an XK150 S running on a pair of 2-inch carburettors. This is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and a limited slip differential rear axle. The suspension has been upgraded with polyurethane bushes and adjustable telescopic shock absorbers, including converting the rear from the original leaver arm shocks. The steering has been converted to rack and pinion with electric power steering. The front brakes have been converted to discs with four pot aluminium callipers. Additionally, the car benefits from an alternator, electric cooling fan, aluminium radiator, header tank, inertia seat belts, hidden radio and much more.

This stunningly presented XK120 FHC has been built to an incredibly high specification and is suitable for those who would normally consider themselves too tall for an XK120. All the upgrades and modifications have been carried out with a view to reliability and to make the car as enjoyable to drive as possible. This might just be the ultimate touring XK!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
