This 1953 Jaguar XK120 roadster was acquired by the current owner in 1959 and was refurbished between 2000-2001. It is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in silver over two-tone blue leather. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a split front windshield, chrome bumpers and bumperettes, chrome 16” wire wheels with knock-off hubs, lap belts, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with service records and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in silver and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior equipment includes a blue convertible top, a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, and polished dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes that the soft top is difficult to latch and has not been raised in over two decades.
Painted 16” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with Toyo tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums.
The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in two-tone blue leather complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include lap belts, a passenger-side grab handle, door map pockets, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 5k miles. Approximately 45k miles were added under current ownership.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors. A B-type cylinder head was installed and the engine was reportedly bored .030″ over during the refurbishment in the early 2000s. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
