Auction description:
Lot 120
Pebble Beach 2015
1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster
Estimate: $150,000 - $180,000 | Without Reserve
Chassis: S674747
Engine: F 1765-8S
Available from the wide-ranging and prominent collection of a private collector, where it has received expert care, this is perhaps the purest form of the XK. The Jaguar presents in British Racing Green with chrome wire wheels, beautifully offset by a tan leather interior. This left-hand-drive example dates from toward the end of the 1954 production run, and is built to the higher-power SE specification. In 2004, a full restoration was carried out, and since then the XK120 Roadster has been enjoyed sparingly, covering a few hundred miles each year and, in total, less than 2,500 since restoration. Service records also show regular maintenance, such as fluid changes; new tires installed in 2013; and work to ensure continued drivability. The driver's seat was adjusted for rake and re-cushioned, the transmission linkage adjusted, and a new brake master cylinder fitted.

The clean lines of the roadster, its SE specification, and the attractive color combination set this car apart. The documented excellent care it has received makes it a particularly appealing example.

Jaguars' postwar styling language is derived from the XK120, the graceful shape of this gorgeous roadster is timeless.

In 2004, a full restoration was carried out, since this XK-120 Roadster has been enjoyed a few hundred miles use, yearly. It has less than 4,000 miles since restoration and shows service records for regular maintenance regardless of use to keep in superb, ready to use condition.

This Jaguar XK-120 SE is among the finest on the market, complete with all books, records, and tools. It is ready for immediate enjoyment and would make a fine addition to any collection.

*Rare and desirable factory 'Special Equipment' XK120 Roadster

*Stylish and appropriate British Racing Green over Biscuit livery

*Beautifully restored, matching numbers example documented by Heritage Trust Certificate

*Eligible for a host of international tours and driving events

This stunning XK120 SE Roadster was completed at the Browns Lane Jaguar Works during 1954 - nearing the end and fully-evolved production run of the original XK model - and was equipped with the 'Special Equipment' package from factory. The new Jaguar was configured as a left-hand drive, US market example, and is purported to have done just over 62,000 miles from new to this day. The XK120 Roadster would reside in a well-known California-based collection for many years, and was in 2004 treated to a full restoration, while having been enjoyed on the road just a few hundred miles annually since, resulting in less than 4,000 miles since restoration. During this ownership, the Jaguar was diligently serviced and maintained as needed.

Today this classic XK120 Roadster presents beautifully throughout, with the svelte 'Open Two-Seater' bodywork finished in the stunning and era-evoking British Racing Green color, perfectly contrasted by the Biscuit interior and black Roadster top. Chrome wire wheels are fitted and shod on period-correct Dunlop tires, with a matching spare mounted in the boot or trunk. Importantly, the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirms that the XK retains its matching numbers engine block.

This impressive Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster must be among the finest on the market, and is offered complete with books, service records, tools and jack. Eligible for a host of international driving and Concours events, this lovely example of Jaguars iconic and very first XK Roadster model deserves serious consideration.
