1954 Jaguar XK120 M OTS Black with a Red. Chassis S675437, engine F2873-8S, body F7716, gearbox JL22521. We are proud to present this magnificent, authenticated, 2 owner from new 1954 Jaguar XK120 in M configuration with 24,619 miles. Car was originally sold to Mr. R. Terminis of Long Island, New York in 1954. The current owner bought it in 1997 which makes this car a 2 owner car. Although the car only had been driven for about 19,000 miles, the current owner had the car extensively restored. The body and paint was done by Nick’s Old Car Specialty shop, a firm known in the Southern California area for their exceptional workmanship and prize-winning Jaguars. The exquisite black paint was applied in lacquer. All the chrome was done by the renowned Christensen Plating Works. The mechanical restoration was performed by the owner who is a Jaguar master technician. The engine, transmission and rear end were rebuilt. A new wiring loom was installed. The exhaust system was replaced by a stainless steel system. All the instruments were restored as well as the steering wheel. The interior was restored with materials supplied by BAS. The original wire wheels were restored and re-chromed. The car is fitted with period correct Dunlop Road Speed RS5 tires. The car comes with all the original tools, jack, air pump and books. We have pictures as well as invoices of the restoration.

According to the BMI Heritage Trust, this spectacular XK120 was originally dispatched to Hoffman Motors in New York on April 25, 1954. As constructed, the car was originally ordered as a Special Equipment model (high-compression head, dual exhaust, wire wheels) and it was finished in one of the most attractive color combinations for the classic XK Roadster: black over red.

Mr. R.J. Termini of Long Island, New York, purchased the Jaguar and retained it until his passing. In the mid-1960s, the XK was put into static storage but, despite its lack of use, Mrs. Termini had grown attached to her husband’s Jaguar and it wasn’t until October 1987 that she reluctantly advertised it for sale. Mr. Sherryll Swanson purchased the XK intending to restore it, but circumstances prevented him from starting the project and he never registered the car. He eventually sold the Jaguar in 1998 to its current owner, a factory-trained master mechanic who has worked for Jaguar as a technician, service manager and foreman for some 36 years.

In 2000, a meticulous yet sympathetic restoration of this most deserving Jaguar was begun. The car was wonderfully preserved and untouched following so many years in static storage and, 50 years after it was delivered to Mr. Termini, the Jaguar had only accumulated 19,000 original miles!

Ever the perfectionist, the consignor had the XK sent to Harry Nicks of Redlands, California, who performed a sterling job on the bodywork and paint. The panels fit beautifully, the finish is beyond reproach and the paint reflects like a black diamond. Continuing the high standard of work, the renowned Christensen Plating Works completed all the chrome plating. The original wire wheels were rebuilt and equipped with Dunlop RS5 tires and all mechanical components have been completely rebuilt. The interior is beautifully appointed and all the minute details are accurately executed. This XK is in exceptional condition in every respect and its presentation and preparation are second to none.

This Roadster has recently been awarded 99.86 points at a recent JCNA meet and, not surprisingly, it has earned a First in Class at the Hillsborough Concours and a first prize at the Palo Alto Concours. It has only covered 5,000 miles since the work was completed, but even that use is difficult to detect. Mr. Nicks reports that the car is one of the finest Jaguars he has ever seen and also states that it is “on the button” – one of the few XK120s that one can just jump in and drive without hesitation.

This irresistible Jaguar is offered with a Heritage Trust certificate, weather equipment, important original features (data plate, keys, books and tools) and exhaustive documentation that includes a thick stack of restoration receipts, restoration photos, JCNA judging sheets, Mr. Termini’s New York state identification card – even the 1986 and 1998 newspaper advertisements.

Considering this Jaguar’s highly sought-after original color scheme, unblemished history, fastidious restoration work and factory-delivered M specification, it is among the finest examples of the iconic XK120 roadsters in existence.
