This 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster was acquired as a project by the seller in 1980 and was stored for the next 24 years, at which time the engine was rebuilt, the brakes and suspension overhauled, the clutch replaced, and a stainless-steel exhaust system was installed. The car was subsequently put into storage again until 2024. It is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in blue over red vinyl. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a split front windshield, painted wire-spoke wheels, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 SE roadster is now offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records, service manuals, and a Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The car came finished from the factory in Birch Grey and was repainted blue under prior ownership. No soft top is included, and the seller notes various dents and other blemishes as shown up close in the gallery. There is rust in the door sills and jamb and the turn signals are not working.
The 16″ painted wire wheels are mounted with older Fisk tires that need to be replaced. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums. The brakes and suspension were overhauled in 2004.
The cabin features bucket seats with red vinyl upholstery along with black door panels and carpets.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features a C-type cylinder head and dual SU carburetors, and it was factory rated at 180 horsepower in SE-specification. The engine was rebuilt and the clutch replaced in 2004. More recent in work in 2024 involved replacing the ignition wires, distributor cap, and points. The seller notes that the wiring requires attention.
Cylinder head stamping F3337-8S is shown above, and a corresponding number is stamped on the engine block and listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes a noise from the transmission when in first gear. A stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in 2004. Rust in the inner rockers is shown in the gallery.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of June 10, 1954.
The Michigan title is listed as a duplicate.
