This 1953 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand drive fixed head coupe that is finished in black over a red interior and powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include red 16″ wire-spoke knock-off wheels, polished trim, fender-mounted side mirrors, a split windscreen, Smiths gauges, wood interior trim, and a factory four-spoke steering wheel. The car was acquired by the late owner in 1975 and is said to have spent nearly 46 years in storage. This XK120 running project is offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a painting of the car, two spare grilles, a set of luggage, spare keys, and a clean Delaware title in the name of the seller’s late grandfather.

The exterior is finished in black and is believed to have been repainted under current ownership. Chrome trim adorns the grille, light surrounds, windshield, fender-mounted side view mirrors, split front bumpers, and rear overriders. Additional features include a split windscreen, interior vent doors in each fender, and a single center-exit exhaust. There are various trim, paint, and body imperfections.

Red 16″ wire-spoke knock-off wheels wear older Monarch tires. Stopping is provided by four-wheel drum brakes, and the seller notes the left front brake is seized. A spare tire is mounted in the trunk.

The interior features red upholstery on the seats along with matching door panels and black carpets. Wood trim covers the dashboard and door panels, and additional equipment includes a dash-mounted rearview mirror, vent windows, a glovebox, a driver’s seat lap belt, and a rear parcel shelf. A set of luggage is included in the sale.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors, polished valve covers, and was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. A tune-up was reportedly completed in 2020.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. There is corrosion on the underside.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
