Beaulieu Autojumble, Collectors' Motor Cars (10 Sep 2011)

Lot No: 496

1956 Jaguar XK140SE Coupé
Registration no. 474 KMV
Chassis no. S804780DN
Engine no. G8582-8S

Estimate: £6,000 - 9,000, € 6,800 - 10,000

Footnote:
this desirable overdrive-equipped SE version was purchased from Henley's in 1962 and used up to 1968, since when it has stood unused, both garaged and, for significant periods, outside under tarpaulins. Believed to retain matching chassis/engine numbers, the car comes with old-style continuation logbook (issued 1962), service manual and sundry other documentation including bills for an engine overhaul in 1967. The vehicle is offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
