this 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC that Auburn Classic Cars is proud to offer is the perfect blend of elegance and motorsport pedigree with its potent high-output factory MC powerplant and timeless, flowing lines. Acquired by the long-term owner in 1994 from another long-term California-based owner, this Jaguar was formerly a black plate California car. Well intact upon purchase, the current owner would commission a comprehensive and complete restoration that would conclude in 1995 and is documented by accompanying invoices and a large album of restoration photos.
During the restoration, the owner would also opt to change the color to its current desirable livery. Under his care for the last 31 years, this Jaguar has traveled just 900 miles and has been stored in his climate-controlled building that houses his collection of cars. A numbers-matching example, this XK140 is desirably equipped with the factory MC or SE (Special Equipment) package that adds dual exhausts, Lucas fog lights, and C-type racing heads which adds more horsepower than the stock examples. Adding to its overall thrilling driving experience, the inner workings of the engine have been upgraded to add another 40 horsepower and are discreetly hidden so it still retains its stock appearance.
Upon completion of the restoration, this Jag was campaigned at numerous noted events, where it would score a 99.91 at the 1999 Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d'Elegance. Scoring sheets from the event accompany the sale. Completing this 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC is a host of desirable items that include matching side curtains, a tonneau cover, photos and invoice records from the restoration, its California black plate and copy of historic California title, an owner's manual, complete tool roll kit, a knock-off hammer, spare tire, jack, and grease gun. Photos of these items, as well as videos of this Jaguar running and driving, can be found on Auburn Classic Cars' website.
