Ebay item 2/19/20
www.ebay.com/itm/1956-Jaguar-XK-140MC-OTS/293483204634
Opening bid US $80,000 reserve not met 0 bids, 9 days left in auction, seller pinky1938.

Seller's description:
This car is a totally numbers matching car which is shown by the unrestored/unaltered Chassis Plate and by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. I purchased it in December 1990 and had it in storage until its recent five year restoration. It was a complete disassembly down to individual components, all of which were restored or replaced by proper and approved components. Viart’s book, “Jaguar XK 140 explored” was my guide. All records and document are available for review. Listed below are some of the details:
Frame, all suspension parts, all mounting parts have been powder coated in gloss black.
Engine, transmission and power train were completely rebuilt by JP European to specs and concours standards. Even though the pistons were in good shape, I had them replace with new Kolben pistons. Engine runs like new. Transmission is smooth and quiet.
Original radiator was rebuilt with a high efficiency core and high flow flex fan. Engine runs at correct temperature.
All new stainless steel exhaust system with newly porcelainized headers.
New fuel pump and fuel lines.
Complete restoration of the braking system with all stainless steel lines, powder coated drums and backing plates.
All new suspension components including new leaf springs.
All major chrome pieces are original and recently triple plated to concours standard. New Lucas fender mounted mirrors.
All gauges were rebuilt to concours standards by the artisans at Nisongers Instruments.
All new complete wiring harness. All new rubber throughout the car.
Complete new interior, boot and top done by K&H European Auto Upholstery to concours standards. Side curtains are on order.
Disassembly, prep, painting and reassembly: too much $. The paint is a special Ferrari silver (101C) which reflects only silver with no other hue what so ever. It matches my ’62 Flat Floor.
Five new Dunlap Chrome wire wheels and knock-offs with five new Vredestein tires and tubes.

This 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE roadster was completed on November 7, 1956 and distributed in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. It was acquired by the seller 30 years ago and remained in storage until undergoing a five-year restoration that was completed in 2019. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 3.4L inline-six that was rebuilt during the restoration paired with a four-speed manual gearbox that was also overhauled. Additional work included a repaint in silver, reupholstering the black interior, upgrading the cooling system, refreshing the brake and suspension components, fitting a stainless steel exhaust system, and more as outlined below. This XK140 open two-seater is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, photos and invoices from the restoration, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in Arbour Green, the body was removed from the frame and disassembled prior to being repainted in a Ferrari Silver Metallic (101C) during the restoration. The frame was powder-coated in gloss black, and can be seen with the body removed during the project in the photo gallery below. The bumpers and other chrome trim were re-plated, and new Lucas side mirrors were installed. The body seals were also replaced. A new black soft top was supplied by K&H European Auto Upholstery in Garden Grove, California.

New 16” Dunlop chrome wire wheels were fitted during the restoration, along with a matching spare, and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires were mounted all around. The brake system refresh included fitting stainless steel hydraulic lines and powder-coating the four-wheel drums in red, with new black coating on the backing plates. The suspension components were also powder-coated black, and new leaf springs were installed.

The interior was re-trimmed by K&H European Auto Upholstery, retaining the factory shade of black leather over the seats, door panels, and dash. New black carpeting was also fitted, along with a matching top cover.

Smiths instrumentation was rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments in Mamaroneck, New York, and includes a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows a handful of miles, reflecting the distance driven since the restoration.

The 3.4-liter XK inline-six was rebuilt by JP European in Huntington Beach, California, with new Kolben pistons installed. The radiator was rebuilt with a high-efficiency core, and a high-flow flex fan was added. A new wiring harness was installed, and the fuel system was refreshed with a new pump and lines.

Engine number G9425-8S is stamped on the engine block above as well as on the cylinder head in the gallery below, matching the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Chassis number S812977 is shown stamped on the frame in the gallery.

The four-speed manual gearbox was also rebuilt by JP European during the restoration. A stainless steel exhaust system was installed, and the exhaust headers were porcelain-coated.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists the manufacture date of November 7, 1956, as well as the original colors and component numbers.

Please note that this lot will need to be collected from Huntington Beach, CA - California

This car has been in possession of the consignor since 1990, who recently coordinated its comprehensive restoration. No stranger to this often-challenging task, a similar XK 140 he restored to the same standards previously went on to claim numerous concours and JCNA awards and honors.

The list of well-regarded artisans involved in S812977’s overhaul is long. JP’s European Auto in Huntington Beach, California rebuilt the car’s engine and four-speed manual transmission. The engine and head are original to the car, confirmed by the accompanying JDHT certificate. Additionally during this time, the exhaust headers, which flow into a stainless steel exhaust system, were porcelainized. The original radiator was rebuilt with a high efficiency core and high-flow flex fan. All mechanical gear sits on a freshly powder-coated gloss black frame; a new wiring harness, as well as new fuel and brake lines, run throughout.

The car’s interior, convertible top, and convertible top boot were redone by K&H European Auto Upholstery (note that side curtains are not included with the sale of the car), and cockpit gauges have been restored by Nisonger Instruments. Five new wire knock-off Dunlop wheels, as well as new Vredestein tires and tubes, were obtained for the car. Brightwork was also chrome-plated to a high standard, at this time, and new Lucas side mirrors were sourced.

The finishing touch is the distinctive exterior color—a metallic Ferrari silver, paint code 101C—selected to compliment its owner’s E-Type. The paint was applied by Mark Oja, noted for his role automotive television shows Overhaulin’ and American Hot Rod.

Restored with a concours-quality attention to detail, yet also mechanically prepared for enjoyable touring, this 1956 Jaguar XK 140 MC Roadster is offered with photos and receipts documenting the high-grade work it received.

Lot #220724

This 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE roadster was completed on November 7, 1956 and distributed in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. It was acquired by the previous owner in 1990 and remained in storage until undergoing a five-year refurbishment that was completed in 2019. Power is provided by a rebuilt 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, and the car is finished in silver over black upholstery. Additional equipment includes 16″ Dunlop chrome wire wheels, a replacement black soft top, Lucas side mirrors, and stainless steel brake lines. The car was previously listed on BaT in April 2020, and work since the previous auction included repairing the horn, throttle, and hood latch along with adjusting the clutch and replacing the fuel sending unit. This XK140 is offered by the selling dealer in New York with a clean Montana title.

Originally finished in Arbour Green, the body was removed from the frame and disassembled prior to being repainted in a Ferrari Silver Metallic (101C) during previous ownership. The frame was powder-coated in gloss black, the bumpers and other chrome trim were re-plated, the body seals were replaced, and Lucas side mirrors and a replacement black soft top were installed. Repairs to various exterior lights were performed since the conclusion of the previous auction.

The 16″ Dunlop chrome wire wheels were fitted during the refurbishment and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Additional work during the build included fitting stainless steel hydraulic brake lines, powder coating the brake drums and suspension components, and replacing the leaf springs. The brake fluid was bled in 2021.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that was rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments in Mamaroneck, New York. The five-digit odometer shows 302 miles, which is said to represent the distance driven since the refurbishment. The horn was repaired in 2021.

The 3.4-liter XK inline-six was rebuilt by JP European in Huntington Beach, California. Additional work at that time included fitting Kolben pistons, rebuilding the radiator, installing a high-flow flex fan, and replacing the wiring harness, fuel pump, and fuel lines. Service since 2020 is said to have included bleeding the cooling system, repairing the throttle, and replacing the fuel sending unit.

Engine number G9425-8S is stamped on the engine block above as well as on the cylinder head.

The four-speed manual gearbox was also rebuilt by JP European during the restoration. A stainless steel exhaust system was installed, and the exhaust headers were porcelain-coated. The clutch was adjusted in November 2021.
