Sellers description:
XK 140 FHC 3.4 (S815596BW)
This car was produced in April 1956, exported to the US and licensed probably still in 1956. It was imported in the EU 0n 28-01-1988 by Classic Cars Goirle.
Peter Monnee from Wormerveer, heard about it from Mr Spierings from RIjkervoort. He visited two brothers who had the car in a collection of classic cars, but the car was from a panelbeater in Mill. who just parked the car with them. Peter phoned him and was able to buy it.
Peter moved it to his weekend house in the Ardennen (B) where he dismantled it in his workshop for restoration. The car has chassis number S815596, Body number J 6275, and an automatic gearbox. The engine number on this car was not matching. It has Black Californian license Plates (KUU 985)
Thanks to the Californian climate, the amount of rust holes on this car is minimal, nor did i find any serious accidental damage.
It is currently in British Racing Green paint but was likely originally Royal Blue with red leather interior. The mileage is 58.000 on the odometer.
Peter pearlblasted the chassis and powder coated it . Many other suspension parts are also galvanised and treated as Peter has an industrial chrome company. Many new parts and rubbers are already purchased and the chassis and drive train is built up. The fueltank is still in very good condition and the radiator got a new cooling element in it. A Stainless Steel exhaust system is mounted.
Peter left the the interior and the wood set as is, waiting until he would have more time. Parallel he was working on another XK 140 FHC. Peter chose to customise this car for rally purposes and mounted an overhauled 4.2 engine with E_Type specs . tripple SU carburators and 5 speed getrag gearbox. This is already built in.
However if the new owner want to have this car as original as possible, the original 3.4 engine can be given instead of the current engine. This 3.4 engine is not matching nrs., but is period correct.
Originally this car was equiped with the Borg Warner automatic transmission.
This gearbox is still present and overhauled, but the buyer also has the choice of a 4 speed with overdrive gearbox and the Getrag 5 speed.
This car is priced at 27.500 Euro. The car comes with the EU import document, a lost-title declariation and a Bill of Sale from the owner.
