The engine was replaced a few years back when it needed a rebuild due to loss of compression in the rear cylinder.
The car is currently fitted with a 4.2L engine with triple carbs. The engine was build by Eike Wellhausen, and the conversion to accept the triple carbs was done by CKL. The engine has since been detuned to make it more road friendly at Winspeed Motorsport.
The gearbox was also replaced, firstly to install overdrive and then when that proved incapable of handling the torque of this engine it was switched for a Guy Broad's 5 speed unit.
The original engine block and gearbox have been retained. The head was replaced with an alternative B type head somewhere back in the mists of time.

This is an exciting car!! Known by us for many years and sold to its present owner some ten years ago, this XK150 SE Fixed Head Coupe looks, to all intents and purposes, like the beautifully cared-for 3.4 Litre model that it originally was! (And why not?)....
Finished In its correct Cornish Grey, with its ORIGINAL Red interior trim, this wonderful car has been enthusiastically owned, used and maintained throughout its present tenure.
HOWEVER: the car is now installed with a 4.2 Litre Triple SU ("E-Type") engine and drives through our own, robust, Ford-derived 5-Speed Gearbox. (Needless to say the original 3.4 Litre engine and Moss/Overdrive gearbox are retained.) Zeus front brake calipers complete the package.
It is wonderful ... and VERY quick.
A lovely benign history accompanies the car; we have been party to the car`s development and the owner has been (and is) an important WinSpeed friend and customer.
We are pleased to offer this great car for sale.......

Although I'd offered the car for sale in 2014 I ended up taking her for a spin again and promptly drove her home again and I used her for the next couple of years. This spring though Peter from WInspeed contacted me to say that he had someone interested in the car so she's now move on to a new owner. I hope she gives them as much pleasure as she'd given me over the years.
