Car to be at auction 3/12
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 114 - 1958 Jaguar XK 150 Roadster
Estimate: €58,000 - €70,000
Registration Number: German Historic Registered
Chassis Number: S 830354 DN

In common with the majority of XKs the car was sold new in the USA, and remained there until its export to Germany in 1990 by its current enthusiast owner. He kept the car in its original form for some years before embarking on a thorough 'ground up' restoration carried out between 1994 and 1999, during which time it was completely dismantled and rebuilt.

All the work was carried out to the original specification except that a five-speed Getrag gearbox was installed, bringing about a considerable improvement in driveability, and this has proved its worth since the car has seen considerable use in national and international rallies.

The car was German registered in 2000 and carries historic registration plates. This magnificent XK, highly-restored and professionally maintained since, is finished in the traditional livery of British Racing Green with a tan leather interior, splendidly set off by chrome wire wheels.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
