Car was sold in 2017
bringatrailer.com/listing/1958-jaguar-xk150-fixed-head-coupe/
Sold On 12/27/16 For $42,500
This 1958 Jaguar XK150 was built in early October 1958 and was with its second owner from 1983 until 2015, when it was purchased by the seller. This example received a cosmetic refurbishment about 10 years ago that included an exterior color change and refresh of the interior surfaces. It is powered by a 3.8 liter twin cam inline-six paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox that is fitted with a Laycock De Normanville overdrive. Detailed service logs were compiled by the previous owner, a retired Jaguar mechanic who personally performed the service work during his ownership including regular maintenance and a major engine out service in 2004. The car is located in Terrebonne, Quebec and is sold with a clear Canadian title in the seller's name.
Delivered new to Jaguar Cars of New York, the car was originally finished in black and underwent a complete color change to British Racing Green while with the previous owner in 2006. The seller notes various dings and scuffs that can be seen in the detailed photo gallery.
Wire wheels fitted with period-appropriate Firestone bias-ply radials remaining in good shape and providing a nice contrast to the dark paintwork.
The chrome trim remains complete apart from a missing molding along the rear window. It shows good shine with minor pitting found on the trunk molding.
Redone at the time of the repaint, the cabin presents quite well with tan seat upholstery showing minimal wear while retaining taut surfacing. Carpets retain good pile and display no signs of notable issues.
The leather-covered dashboard is accompanied with brightwork that shines nicely with occasional light scratches. Factory Smiths gauges are all are said to be in proper working order. The five-digit odometer indicates just over 13k miles and is not believed to be accurate according to the seller.
Though the car does not retain its matching drivetrain, it is powered by a proper 3.8 liter twin cam inline-six and 4-speed manual gearbox fitted with a Laycock De Normanville overdrive. Prior to the seller's purchase, the car was personally maintained by its previous owner who was a Jaguar mechanic. Service logs document the consistent maintenance performed by the previous owner from 1983-2015 including regular fluid changes as well as an engine out service in 2004.
All looks tidy under the hood, though the seller notes a small oil leak is present. The engine is said to fire up quickly and run quite strong while exhibiting proper oil pressure. The car has been converted to a 12 volt system with the alternator and the distributor points replaced in 2015. Additional work that year included a complete cooling system flush, installation of a re-cored radiator, and a new clutch cylinder.
Apart from some surface corrosion and road grime, the undercarriage is said to remain solid with no apparent signs of rot.
In addition to honors garnered at Jaguar Club car shows and concours events while with the previous owner, the car is sold with a letter of authenticity from Jaguar as well as a detailed logbook from the previous owner chronicling his work on the car between the years 1990-2015. Also included included in the sale is the original jack, grease gun, and Thor hammer for the wheels.
