[...This 150 FHC] was lovingly restored in the 1990s to show winner quality and although no longer a habitual winner, she is still very good show quality. Her restoration took over 5 years and included completely new mechanicals (her engine sounds better than my concourse 140 trailer queen), new aluminum door skin (price that out!), new tires, new cloth interior to spec, and, of course, paint and stainless.

The body is in excellent condition with no rust. There are no nicks or minor irritations like that. The paint is excellent in depth, gloss, and color.

The chrome and stainless components are in excellent condition. This includes both interior and exterior.

The engine has good compression, sounds strong, and does not overheat in traffic.

Sellers description:
“Amy Lou” is the prettiest girl at the dance and refined enough you can take home to Momma! I must admit my wife first saw this 150. It quickly became her favorite. It is easy to get into, there is tons of leg room, and storage is great; and like most XKs, bystanders have not seen one in many years. Include that it is very reliable as I have never needed to use the cell phone. You get the point… a exceptional motorcar that can be driven ANYWHERE! And, you can steal this one.

When someone decides they want a XK they are only beginning to go through the decision process. Usually it begins with choosing a roadster (open two seater or OTS), convertible (drop head coupe or DHC) or sedan (fixed head coupe or FHC). Newer collectors flock to the roadster although the DHC and FHC are more refined. I have had several 120 and 140 OTS cars over the years. The XK-120 is the purest of the breed, but the similar looking 140 is much more drivable with its rack-and-pinion steering. The 150, introduced in 1957, incorporated many performance innovations from the Lemans racing successes. The 150 is the first production car in the world to feature four-wheel disk brakes. The “Special Equipment” package offered a 220hp 3.4 liter engine, twin carburetors, and dual exhaust. It’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing: If you are lucky to find a 3.8 liter 150S with triple carburetors (30 more hp), you better be prepared to shell out the cost of a college education.

The cost to restore a 150 has risen significantly over the years (well beyond their finished value). Parts are readily available, but coachwork is painfully expensive. Amy Lou is distinctive because so many FHCs were never restored like the roadsters or convertibles as the finished value of a OTS or DHC is more profitable for a professional garage. As best I can tell, of all the left hand drive 150 FHC’s, there are 165 registered. Of these, there are only a few examples for sale in entire world today.

Amy Lou was lovingly restored in the 1990s to show winner quality and although no longer a habitual winner, she is still very good show quality. Her restoration took over 5 years and included completely new mechanicals (her engine sounds better than my concourse 140 trailer queen), new aluminum door skin (price that out!), new tires, new cloth interior to spec, and, of course, paint and stainless.

* The body is in excellent condition with no rust. There are no nicks or minor irritations like that. The paint is excellent in depth, gloss, and color.

* When looking for a XK, the three most important things to look for are often said to be “rust, rust, and rust”. The rebuild was a frame off. There is no rust.

* The chrome and stainless components are in excellent condition. This includes both interior and exterior.

* The engine has good compression, sounds strong, and does not overheat in traffic.

* The interior is in excellent condition.

Bottom line is this motorcar looks good…is good…is very reliable …has no rust…has never been smoked in! The engine is excellent. The transmission shifts as it should. The condition of this vehicle is excellent as I take very good care of my cars.

Last summer we drove this motorcar in New York City traffic; then, motored to the Virginia mountains and finally home to South Florida (We admittedly cheated and used the auto-train from Washington to Orlando… an experience we thoroughly enjoyed). This car is a rock! It will cruise all day at 80 mph. Toward this end, if you would like to drive your investment regularly, think XK-150. A recent magazine article talked about the 150 as being a perfect everyday driver. The car runs cool (make that cold) enough that a vintage air-condition could be fitted! Even in Florida heat!

NADA puts an average XK-150SE at $44,000 to a high of $52,000 with perfect cats well beyond. A parts car is $25,000! Suffice to say, this motorcar is better than average. This car is a work of art, very presentable at carshows, runs strong, and is reliable. It should be cherished and driven for your enjoyment, not just looked.

Sellers description:
Here is a numbers matching 1959 XK150 Jaguar for your viewing pleasure. This fixed head coupe was professionally restored in the late 90's and later sold by a purveyor of classic automobiles in the West Village of NYC. More recently, the current owner had the engine rebuilt with less than 1000 miles since then. At the same time, all new rotors and break pads were installed and the Dunlop calipers rebuilt. The SU carbs were sent out to Joe the Expert in Brooklyn to be rebuilt. This is a solid number 2 car and good daily driver. The paint is a correct CARMINE RED with very few chips and scratches. The seats have been upholstered in crushed black velvet and there is a separation at the seam 2.5 inches long in the drivers seat. The carpet is black and is showing wear.

The rebuilt 3.4 litre engine starts and runs out as it should. The 4 speed manual transmission is your average moss box with no unusual noises. A correct 4 speed with over drive will be included for the buy it now price or can be purchased separately. The chrome spokes are presentable but could use re-chroming. An extra set of white wall tires with sandblasted wheels will also be included for the BIN to be painted the color of the car by the new owner. Tail light housing chrome appears thin and the rear bumper, though straight needs re-chroming.

Inspections are welcome and encouraged at this price point. No warranties are expressed or implied. Seller reserves the right to sell locally as advertised. This beautiful Jaguar is ready for the next steward to take it to the next level and enjoy.

This cylinder head should be painted Duck egg green not gold.

Gold color identifies a Straight port head as installed on The S models.

A gold cylinder head number should start with the letters VS- xxxx

This is a standard 3.4,and should have a green color

This chassis number S 835189 was the first car to have a revised boot lid shape.

Private Party or Dealer: Dealer

This 1959 Jaguar XK150 is a fixed-head coupe that was built in February of 1958 and distributed new in the US by Jaguar Cars of New York. It was reportedly refurbished and mildly customized in the 1990s, including a repaint in Carmen Red, before being acquired by a Texas-based collector. Power is from a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six backed by a four-speed manual gearbox, and equipment includes a Vintage Air A/C system, four-wheel disc brakes, Marchal driving lamps, chrome wire wheels, and Firestone whitewall tires. A fluid change was reportedly performed last year, just before the selling dealer acquired the car as a trade-in. Offered with an operating handbook, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Texas title.

Finished from the factory in Cornish Grey, the car was reportedly repainted in Carmen Red during the 1990s refurbishment. Marchal spot lamps are fitted to front bumper plinths. Chrome 16″ wire wheels are secured with aftermarket three-eared knock-offs and wear Firestone whitewall tires. Four-wheel disc brakes came fitted from the factory.

Stock front seats are trimmed in custom red and black leather upholstery, and the cabin is also equipped with matching door panels and red carpeting. Closeups of the rear compartment, parcel shelf, and headliner are provided in the gallery below.

The instrument panel is wrapped in light grey upholstery and features a Smiths 6k-rpm tachometer and 140-mph speedometer, as well as a fuel-level gauge, ammeter, and combination oil pressure/water temperature gauge. 44k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.

The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment in the 1990s and comes equipped with blue air cleaners and cloth-covered ignition wires. The Vintage Air A/C system utilizes a modern rotary compressor, with the condenser mounted ahead of the factory radiator. Power is routed aft through a four-speed manual gearbox.

The sway bars and leaf springs are painted red, while the axle and driveshaft have been finished in gold. Adjustable shocks from GAZ are fitted for the rear axle, and independent front suspension is equipped with a pair of Koni Classic shocks.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists build and dispatch dates, as well as the original configuration.
