Sellers description:
ODO : 05332

BODY: J 9121
Motor:V4433-8
TRANSMISSION: M4929J

Up for auction is a 1959 Jaguar XK150FHC. This estate purchased car is an older restoration that might have been done about 15 years ago. It has been garage stored.

You can tell by all the welting between the body parts that the car was professionally restored.

The paint color is an outstanding burgundy metallic with a few flaws in the paint such as a few minor chips and one crack approx 3" long that we can find in the paint.

All the chrome and stainless is in excellent condition. The two bumper "guards" look like there is some pitting, maybe from an inexpensive chrome job done on the bumper guards. The plastic emblems on the hood and trunk lid are in excellent condition along with the chrome metal mounting plates. No pits in those.

The electrical system as far as all of the lights and charging system seem to all be in good working order. You can tell by the pictures the seats are in excellent condition along with the carpets and headliner.

All the glass seems to be in very good condition and the rubber around the glass has some cracking in areas but is in decent condition.

Both doors open and close easily and the body lines are excellent.

The car has all five chrome wheels that are in perfect condition. The engine on the car runs absolutely beautiful. It was obvious to us this is where they put a lot of time and effort in. It was a little hard to start because the choke assembly should be readjusted and rebuilt by a Jaguar mechanic.

This car has been stored for quite a few years and a few things will need to be attended to. The brake caliper seals are starting to leak and should be rebuilt. The transmission first gear has a high whine but second, third, and forth are excellent. We drove the car in 2012 to the Monterey Historics (about 50 miles away) and it drove well but the brake pedal was spongy. The best thing for this car is a great home and a great detailing. This car would do good at any show.

We have tried our best to describe this car for you so that you can determine if this car will work for you. This car is being sold as is where is.

1959 Jaguar XK 150
Color Matched Wheels
Red Leather Interior
3.4-Litre "S" Engine
Fixed Head Coupe
Four Speed Manual Transmission
Four Wheel Disc Brakes
New High Quality 2 stage paint
Solid California Car

MotoeXotica is pleased to offer our 1959 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe. This Jaguar has the right look, a high quality restoration performed and performance to match. This extremely sound XK150 out of Los Gatos, LA where it had been with the previous owner since 2005

The body on this Jaguar, professionally re-finished in a beautiful Jet Black 2 stage paint finish, is highly detailed to a glass like appearance, and is in wonderful condition. During the restoration all of the windows were removed and all new rubber seals were installed. The chrome bumpers shine with brilliance and are free from any major pitting or discoloration. The factory chrome body trim and windshield surrounds look nice and the weather-stripping is clean and new throughout. The factory emblems are present and free from pitting and still have a high shine, as well as the rear emblem which is easy to read and proudly displays the manufacture's racing history. The factory wire wheels, wrapped in fresh Coker Classic tires, have been painted to match the exterior, further enhancing the sportiness.

The interior is equally as grand. The Red Cannily Leather interior is soft to the touch and compliments the beautiful Wilton Wool carpets, extending from the firewall back to the rear seat. The dash houses a fine looking set of factory gauges, of which are clean and bright, have clear faces and good glass. The dash itself is also wrapped in the same color as the seats, as well as the door cards, all of which are nice condition. The factory chrome window cranks, door latches and bezels all free of corrosion and show excellent. The headliner, in its correct material and color, is tight and does not sag, and really ties up the solid well appointed interior.

Under the wider bonnet lurks the "S" version twin-cam, 3.4 liter straight-six, which is as pretty as the car itself. The Powerful "S" engine breathes through triple SU carburetors, and generates a respectable 250bhp. Power in transmitted to the rear wheels by a slick shifting 4 speed manual transmission. Interestingly enough, the XK150 benefitted from the addition of four-wheel disc brakes. This was the first time such a feature was ever fitted to a production car at that time. In the case of the fixed head coupé, these changes certainly made for a wonderful grand touring car, as they created something that was just as exciting to look at as it was to drive for extended periods of time. Give yourself the Jaguar you have been dreaming of!

The VIN is 5835623 and the mileage shows 05,439.

Auction description:

Lot 225

1958 Jaguar XK 150 3.4 Fixed Head Coupe

Amelia Island 10-11 March 2017

Chassis no. S 835623

Body no. J 9121

Without Reserve

Sold For $71,500

According to the JDHT Certificate included with the car, this immaculate XK 150 Fixed Head Coupe was completed on 9 June 1958 and shipped to Jaguar Cars in New York City in July of the same year. As with many imported European cars at the time, it was titled by the following model year, 1959. The current owner reports, based upon anecdotal information, that the car was sold to a buyer in California, then to a gentleman in Louisiana, where it was fully restored in 2005 and completely repainted in model-proper Jaguar Satin Black in 2014.

Since the car was acquired two years ago, it has reportedly been driven fewer than 100 miles, been well maintained, and stored in the owner's climate-controlled facility. The XK 150 is equipped with five factory knock-off wire wheels, including the spare, and rides on period-correct Coker Classic blackwall bias tires. The all-red interior is pristine, with the leather seats, carpets, headliner, door panels, and leather-trimmed instrument panel all meticulously cared for. The surprisingly spacious boot has a protective red liner and stores a complete tool kit with a Thor hammer. Owner's manuals are also included. This impeccable example is show-worthy and presents a timely opportunity for someone who recognizes a true classic.
