Sold new in August 1959 in Canada, as confirmed by its Jaguar certificate, this 3.4L 'Special Equipment' coupé was purchased in 1976 by the current owner's uncle. Fully restored, the car was repatriated to Europe in 2004 and, ten years later, a restoration accompanied by a thorough preparation to '3.8L S' specification was undertaken. Numerous photos illustrate the scale of the work, and a large file of invoices details the choices made. The owner informed us that the total cost of the work was in excess of €120,000. Between 2014 and 2017, the bodywork was stripped, re-welded, insulated, fitted with a roll bar, and repainted in a matte metallic green. The running gear has been restored with firmer springs, a self-locking axle, Koni shock absorbers, a stabiliser bar, and 16-inch wire wheels. A carefully prepared engine was built from a Type S 3.8 block with a Type C cylinder head, enabling the fitting of 3 SU HD8 carburettors, coupled to a short-ratio 4-speed gearbox. All equipment specific to rallying and safety has been fitted: bucket seats, harnesses, double circuit breakers, navigation light, cigarette lighter sockets, helmet storage, fire extinguishers, etc. Completed in 2017, the car took part in the Tour Auto that very same year, then competed in the Coupe des Alpes, and has not raced since. It will therefore need to have its safety equipment upgraded and its roadworthiness checked, however, its up-to-date HWP will enable its new owner to take part in the most prestigious events in a carefully prepared car, regardless of cost.

I do believe the true number of S 836355 is V- 7197-8
