Additional info from above Cheffins auction:

This particular example was originally one of just 199 XK150 3.4S fixed head coupes produced by the Browns Lane factory. However, before long it was returned to the Jaguar works and upgraded with 3.8S engine. In basically sound but scruffy overall condition, it is finished in British Racing Green with a tan leather interior nicely re-trimmed. In recent years, it has benefited from a stainless steel exhaust replacement sills and inner rear wheel arches together with extensive new metal to its 'A' and 'B' posts. Three of its splined hubs have been renewed while a fresh clutch was installed approximately 500 miles ago. Its suspension has been upgraded with Koni shock absorbers. Upon inspect, the engine fired readily but did not run smoothly and will require some attention. Offered for sale with V5 registration document, current MOT and road tax exempt.
Estimate: £8,000 - £10,000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
