This car is mentioned in Jaguar Driver magazine October 1992 in a letter written by the owner David Crawley of Nottinghamshire England. He gives the engine number as VAS 1212-9, gearbox JLS46181 and body P8472.
He was seeking the car's history stating that in 1990 it had been re-imported from Sweden.
The original colour was said to be Pearl Grey with blue trim and black hood.

A relatively thorough history of the car is given in the July 2013 edition of the XK Gazette. They are seeking 60s information about the car and its original registration number.

Howdy,
My dad bought this car for his brother ca 1977. It was painted maroon then. Found it in a shed just outside Sandviken, Sweden then. I was just a kid ca 14 years old. It was a formula one car to me! Used to spend summers with my uncle and his family in Skåne around -80 to -85. Took every chance I could to get a ride in that 150. My dad nearly bought it back from his brother, but he moved to Singapore then so that purchase never happened. Uncle moved abroad too (India I think). Anyway, had I been old enough, then I would certainly have bought the car myself. So it wouldn't be in the UK now :-)
Instead, in 1985, I bought an E-type project:

Restored that car myself.
So... that's it. Please feel free to ask questions. Would be glad to help.
Cheers - Christer Bergström (in Sweden)

Car now offered at:

pendine.com/cars-for-sale/jaguar-xk150-3-4-s-drophead-coupe/

Seller's description:

Chassis T 827597 DN is a Home Market, matching numbers 3.8S Drop Head Coupe, completed on the 14th June 1960. Supplied via Henlys, London, in the early 1970s this XK found its way to Sweden. Ownership there is known from 1971, with correspondence on file, before the current U.K. owner repatriated the car in 1989. He enlisted Jaguar specialist P&K Thornton to complete a full, chassis up restoration. This was completed between 1990 and 1993. A photographic summary of restoration accompanies the history file, which is weighty with bills.

The current owner is a perfectionist and due to some minor stress cracks and crazing in the paint, the whole car was repainted in 2020. Always serviced, always well maintained, this is a superb example of the highly sought-after 3.8S Drop Head Coupe, arguably the most advanced and usable of all the Jaguar XK’s.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
