Car listed as sold at:
www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/
Auction description:
According to Terry McGrath and John Elmgreen's research for their book "The Jaguar XK in Australia", chassis 660196 was delivered via Brylaws of Melbourne to Colin Anderson on the 9th of February, 1951. The XK120 was first registered to R.T.Edgar & Sons Pty Ltd in Melbourne, who may have been connected to Anderson, and the car then went to Raife Cowan in 1960. The present owners then acquired the Jaguar in March 1977 with a speedo reading of 48,000 miles on the clock. In the past 30 years, this has crept up to 53,300 miles and the vehicle remains in remarkably original, unrestored (except paintwork) condition today. With numerous special features, including a detachable hardtop, special soft top, exhaust pipe outlet and a set of particularly desirable chromed and fluted wheels (believed to be one of just five sets made by Jaguar). The car retains the original and very stylish colour combination of black duco with biscuit and red leather upholstery. Having been issued with a current roadworthy by a Marque specialist, this is without doubt one of the most original XK120s left in Australia and is being offered for sale for the first time in many decades. To be sold registered in Victoria with number plates 'XK-0120'.
