(2011 August) passed me on I-90 going something like 90mph. Who is the nut case driving this thing?

He ought to keep the speed down a bit on the freeway. I-90 doesn't mean 90mph. I think a typical left lane speed on i-90 is close 80mph so 90 might be okay if you were in a modern Porsche or Lexus. But in that old thing? Someone might change into the fast lane in front of him, without looking first, and boom we'll have one less nice car around.

Don't worry .... there's at least another 8,500 of them.
Seriously, they were meant to be driven, "90 mph" .... he was just cruising

This is the owner. First of all, I think iwas driving alertly and safely. I dont tailgate, I pay careful attention to speed differentials, I signal for at least 5sec and turn my head to look before changing lanes. I am vigilant about being on highest alert when passing people at a signif speed diff because so many drivers here don't signal or look before they change lanes. And I only pass on the right when everyone else is clogging the left lane for miles amd miles and the right lane is deserted. Even then I rarely pass on the right.

So, apologies if my speed offended you, but I think I'm driving more safely than 98% of the rest of the yahoos out there. If you give me your license number I'll slow down a bit when I pass you the next time on I-90.

"Owner", I fully concur with the description of your driving and reckon you know what the car and you are about. And if mine were on the road just now I'd being doing the same (driving it as it was meant to driven) and getting enormous pleasure from it, not standing about in field, gawking and talking b.s.

Engine is out for the third time to try to correct all the botched rebuild work done by two reputable shops. The most recent problem (and the last straw) was when a new valve seat dropped.

I feel as though I just smoked a joint made up on nine one-thousand dollar bills only to find it was made with really crappy weed. Cest la vie.

Fortunately, I have a fresh XK140MC motor (9:1) to use in the interim. The motor was rebuilt by a relatively unknown Jaguar shop and it runs perfectly.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
