This XK 140 MC OTS (open two-seater) was originally supplied through Chas. Hornberg of Los Angeles, California. It was purchased by its first owner 1st Lt. R.E. Catton. In 1969 the current owner, a Florida resident, purchased the car. At the time of purchase it was used as a daily driver and has since been lovingly cared for.
After over four decades of steadfast ownership a complete frame-off restoration was commissioned. Everything was addressed, and restored to the highest standards. The chassis was refinished in black as if it just rolled off the assembly line. Panel gaps were checked to a ensure everything lined up, bodywork smoothed, and the car received a high-quality repaint in a deep shade of black with a mirror-like finish. Next the interior was retrimmed in a wonderful shade of dark tan leather and a new black soft top was installed, neatly tucked away behind the rear seat. The attention to detail on this car is evident down to the smallest touch, including the slotted screws on the dash lined in the same direction. Since the restoration, the car has covered less than 60 miles.
Following the completion of the restoration the consignor successfully showed the car, receiving the following awards: People’s Choice Award and Champion Division 2nd place at the 2019 Jaguar of Southwest Florida Concours D’elegance, the 2019 North Georgia Jaguar Club Concours D’elegance People’s Choice award, and the People’s Choice Award at the Southeast Jaguar Concours D’elegance.
This Jaguar retains its original engine and cylinder head, confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate on file. Included with the car is the tool roll, spare tire, jack, grease gun, owner’s manual and side windows which have been refinished to a condition equivalent to the rest of the car.
Offered from 51 years of ownership, and having covered less than 60 miles since being restored, this 1956 Jaguar XK 140 MC Roadster is sure to impress future ownership.
