Car to return to auction 5/15
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 252 - 1960 Jaguar XK150 SE Fixed Head Coupe
Estimate: £45,000 - £55,000
Registration Number: 5 JYB
Chassis Number: S825310DN

5 JYB, an XK150 SE Fixed Head Coupe, was first registered on the 23rd July 1960, and is one of only 99 RHD of this version made.

In the car's previous ownership 5 JYB enjoyed a comprehensive mechanical rebuild by a Jaguar specialist, including a complete new stainless exhaust system, petrol and expansion tanks, and to aide cooling the fitting of a Kenlowe fan. The current owner has turned his attention to the bodywork and trim. Much structural work has been undertaken; new inner wings, door shuts, and A Frames have been fitted. The body was taken back to bare metal, all glass removed, and then repainted in the correct shade of British Racing Green.

Finally new seals, bushings and rubbers were added before refitting all glass. The interior was treated to new Connolly hides in Sage Green, with matching inertia reel seatbelts, new Wilton carpets and a new headlining. Photographs of this restoration work are available if required. To complete the transformation new Avon tyres and chrome wire wheels have been fitted on each corner.

The result of this detailed program of restoration works is a car which we are told drives extremely well, with superb brakes, a super smooth transmission, and a lovely torquey engine showing excellent oil pressure, while remaining cool at all times.

Supplied with a full tool roll, owner's handbook, UK V5 and MoT, this is one XK150 which can only be described as superb.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
