Ebay item 2/22/09 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $19,999, no reserve, 1 bid 6 days left
Sellers description:
THIS IS A 1961 (TITLED) JAGUAR SE DROPHEAD COUPE WITH THE VERY DESIRABLE 3.8 LITER 6 CYLINDER AND A 4 SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX WITH FACTORY ELECTRIC OVERDRIVE.
IT REQUIRES A COMPLETE RESTORATION. WELL WORTH RESTORING AS VERY NICE EXAMPLES OFTEN SELL IN THE $75,000 TO $100,000 RANGE.
THIS CAR HAS BEEN OFF OF THE ROAD FOR DECADES.
THE ENGINE IS COMPLETE BUT THE CYLINDER HEAD AND SUMP ARE OFF OF THE CAR.
WE DO HAVE THESE PARTS AND THEY ARE INCLUDED!
APPARENTLY, IT NEEDS TO BE FREED UP. IT DOES NOT TURN OVER.
THE BODY APPEARS TO BE COMPLETE. THERE IS RUST
PRESENT IN SEVERAL PLACES ESPECIALLY IN THE REAR QUARTERS AND SILLS.
THE FRAME HAS ONLY A FEW SMALL RUSTY AREAS AS FAR AS I CAN SEE.
THE INTERIOR LOOKS COMPLETE TOO, BUT WILL ALSO NEED REFURBISHING. IT MAY RESPOND TO REPAIR RATHER THAN REPLACEMENT.
RARE ORIGINAL MOTOROLA RADIO.

Seller added the following:
The engine number matches the vehicle tag on both the block and head.
It is a 3.8 with 9:1 compression, twin carb.
The frame looks solid. I could not find any soft areas. It is very scaly and will require sand blasting or similar stripping.
The right hand door is sound. The left one has several holes.
The trunk floor is basically sound. Rusted at the forward, low end.
There is no spare wheel.
The left front fender has a rusted vent door.
The right one looks solid.

Sellers description:
Behold a true piece of automotive history and artwork. This is a collector's dream and has had only two owners over it's 50 years. This 1961 JAG XK150 DROP HEAD COUPE is a timeless classic that can be yours for a very competitive price. This is a "NO RESERVE" price and can be purchase far below market value so don't hesitate to bid. This can easily be a driver's car that the new owner will be able to enjoy for years to come. The body of the car is in very good condition (especially for it's age) and the pics below are a testament to that.
Mechanically, the engine has been pressure tested. The cylinders need to be bord and sleeved but will run. The engine and transition are original to the car. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and is not slipping at all. This car has an "overdrive" transmission, providing an extra overdrive gear. The car has been taken apart for restoration, but the current own is sick and is not moving ahead. The car is complete and ALL PARTS ARE CURRENT. The undercarriage is mostly clean. The frame is solid with little rust as are all the components underneath this car.
The body is solid with no rust and has been prepped to be painted.

From the book "Original Jaguar XK" by Philip Porter, 3.4S and 3.8S engines with VS and VAS prefix had 9 - 1 compression with suffix -9. Other 3.8 engines with VA prefix 8 - 1 compression with suffix -8.
All 150 Drophead bodies were prefixed with P.

Auction description:
Chassis Number S838862DN
Engine Number VA1808-9
Odometer reading 177 km
Estimate £38,000 - £45,000
A recent barn find in America, this XK150 SE drophead coupé has been bought back to these shores in need of near total restoration. A previous project has begun the restoration process and therefore a good rust free chassis and body accompany almost every part needed to restore this XK to its former beauty. It is thought that an engine and gearbox rebuild will be necessary but original components are all available for reconditioning. This particular SE is a lefthand drive manual with overdrive variant and has a 3.8 litre engine with red leather interior trim. This is an exciting opportunity to fully restore this beautiful classic to exactly your own specification and for which values are noticeably climbing.

Once a barn-find in America, this XK150SE drophead coupé has been bought back to these shores in need of near total restoration. A previous project has begun the restoration process and therefore a good rust free chassis and body was available as well as almost every part needed to restore this XK to its former beauty. This particular SE is a lefthand drive, manual with overdrive variant and has a 3.8 litre engine with red leather interior trim. An extensive and pain-staking restoration thus took place with the engine and gearbox completely overhauled. A bare-metal re-spray was also completed with new chrome wire-wheels fitted and a new leather interior in the original factory colour scheme. This XK150 has the desirable manual with overdrive gearbox mated to a 3.8 litre engine and stainless steel exhaust and drives extremely well indeed. Now registered with NOVA, the process to register this car in the UK is already well underway and the car will be supplied with full UK registration as well as a full MoT test certificate valid until next year.
The elegance and desirability of these beautifully-penned XK's cannot be underestimated and early viewing is advised.
